Aaron and Stina

Blog

I have a LOT of thoughts on wedding planning....and not all are happy ones.

Nerves are gone.....can we get a move on it now?!

6 days and counting. Yes, I am now COUNTING! I have been home for 3 days and so far, I've managed to finish all the place cards and programs. Aaron has not given me the bar menus yet, but I know he has them in his suitcase.  I've already wrapped most of our thank you gifts and today, I'll be purchasing the last bamboo poles for the chuppah project. I also have to write a welcome note for all the OOT bags. Oh and write tags for the gifts that I've wrapped...we wouldn't want my parents...

It's really on now!

The wedding is approaching fast! The clicker on the knot just revealed that we have 59 days left! OMG! I am super excited.  The invites went out on Monday! Gah! It's really happening. No turning back now (technically, it can turn back if things went south, but thankfully, we're pretty content with each other :). ) I am so happy that the invites went out. They were my least favorite thing to plan so far. And even better news is that my cousin called my mom today with questions about our...

OMG I'm getting married!

Today was Wedding Wednesday. No, really. All I did today was try on wedding dresses. I woke up this morning and showed up at the Knot offices in NYC and got to model some wedding jewelry with a gown. Although the gown wasn't my taste, I absolutely LOVED the material it was made of. It felt like what I imagine a snuggie to feel like...lol I got all the glam treatment: hair and makeup, talking with other knotties, etc. It was so much fun, but I am definitely tired from thinking about weddings...

st of Bridal and Bridesmaid Beauty

I am pleased to say that I have gotten a great deal.... My makeup artist is a Mary Kay lady who is a family friend and she is not charging me for ANYONE'S makeup. So total spent: $0. My hair trial went really well and the lady did exactly what I wanted. Bridal updo: $75 including trial Bridesmaid: $55-65 depending on the hair And on top of this all, my mom refuses to let me pay for my two sisters' hair and makeup. So I technically am only paying for 2 bridesmaids' looks for the day.

4 days in Paso

I got a ton done while Aaron and I visited Paso for four days this last week. I finished: All the favors (we're doing sandalwood fans, wrapped in black ribbon and labeled) Hair Trial Makeup Trial Put return address labels on invites Put address labels and stamps on the reply cards And Aaron started building the chuppah with my dad and my sister's boyfriend. I have photos of the 3 boys working on it together.

Invites are in....

Yes, the infamous invites that I nearly pulled my hair out for are in. They're not bad. Not the best by any means. We didn't spend a bucko amount of bucks on paper. But, we did get our names spelled correctly and such. They were sent to my mom because she is doing the calligraphy (gotta love moms). It took over a week for an invite to get from her to us, completely put together. It looks great except.... the backing color is the wrong color! ...Holy shazam! It was supposed to be "lakeshore"...

My first real DIY

I finally mustered up the strength, the time, and the patience to try a DIY project. Success! I really wanted jewels on the soles of my feet. All because of the time I spend on the knot wishing I was as creative as the other brides. I did not buy the letters or the numbers already lined up....that’s all me, baby! It was hard in the beginning as I was learning as I went. I did make a model of what was going to be glued down so I had something to follow though. Aaron helped me pick out what...

Mother of the Bride Dress Done!

So mom found a dress. It is Priscilla of Boston Style PB127. I think it looks gorgeous on her and she really likes it....at least enough that she also wants to order it in the red so that she can wear her favorite color to another event. I am so excited for when she gets it in the right color. I especially like the train on the back. The little bow is so cute. Just glad that she got this in before it’s too late. And no, I don’t think it looks too much like my dress.....if it were the...

Bridesmaid Dresses are Ordered!

Hooray! Another HUGE check to mark on my wedding to do list. Every girl’s dress is gorgeous. I hope they like them as much as I do. I let them choose their own dress that was by the designer Jim Hjelm. They had to pick a black knee/tea length that was taffeta. I used the website netbride.com in the end. I was originally going to go through the same store where I purchased my dress, but there was no benefit in doing this, especially since no one else lives in NYC. The shipping...

Baker Booked!

I am so excited. We booked with Cassie’s Custom Cakes in Atascadero. I ended up trying 4 different bakeries before deciding on them. We are doing a 3 tier cake and some sheet cakes that will not be displayed. I really wanted red velvet cake and the other bakery that was getting awesome word of mouth would not make it...which made me oh so upset. But not to fear. I want what I want, and I’m not going to settle for less, especially on cake seeing as I have the...
