What a weekend! It has been a busier weekend than we anticipated…with many brush fires, a trip to the doctor, going to a rugby game, a market and catching up with things here. Let me (Jo) start with Thursday evening. There were some fires down the road, so our team went to help put them out. Fire trucks don’t come and we are the fire fighters. We fight fires with minimal water and a lot of manpower. Manpower consists of plastic rakes that are used to beat the fire. We laughed at how some people have chosen to fight these fires. A few Koreans were told to get some water and they filled plastic grocery bags with water. Really it does seem that the water is like spitting on it, but the water is only used to cool the fire and then the rakes are used to beat them. Anyway, we then had another fire in the middle of the night at 1:30 a.m. and did not get back to bed until 6 a.m. We had an earlier morning on Friday because we had to go to the doctor. I thought I may have a parasite but I let the doctor confirm it. She listened to my stomach and said, “there is a lot going on in there” and then told me that my stomach looked bloated, but really I think I have a little belly from all the ice cream I ate in the city. I am not sure how accurate her diagnosis was. Then there was another fire on Friday night, but we were at a rugby game and missed the fight. We weren’t really sad…it is exhausting! Saturday was a fun day at the market. We got some cool things for the house or apartment that we don’t have, but I am very excited about. I purchased a three foot wood giraffe and I am not sure how I will get it home but I am determined. I already had Adam try to fit it into our suitcases and there is no way it is going to fit.
Verse of the day: Hebrews 12:28-29 – Therefore since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and all, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

I just had the most wonderful image of the both of you and a crew of Koreans loading up with plastic bags and rakes on a fire truck. Much laughing and happiness followed. I hope you don't have a parasite, Jo. They mess up your intestines.
