Thus far, we have absolutely loved the beginning of Mission’s Mobilizing. Last night we began with an illustration regarding a fire and how few people went to put it out. It helped paint the picture of how many of us view Missions. Jo and I have been assigned as team leaders for certain groups. Jo’s team is Myanmar (formally Burma) and mine is Saudi Arabia. We are responsible for conducting presentations on our country at the end of the week. We have also learned some very practical communication tools for remembering mission statements and helping to tell stories. For the evening, we were a part of a World Hunger Meal. I was assigned to the group of middle income, which is not middle income America but still rather a poor class. So, I had a small portion of rice with a meat and vegetable sauce. Unfortunately Jo was assigned to the group of extreme poverty and she was given nothing to eat. Our team was rather generous though and I think that she ended up eating better than I did. It was another great tool to share about poverty and a way of presenting the needs of the world. We look forward to the rest of the week and are thankful that our knowledge about the world is growing.
Verse of the day: Matthew 24:14 “And the gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
Please pray that people would positively respond to the needs of extreme poverty in South Africa.
