Adam & Johanna

Tuesday, October 7, 2008 and Wednesday, October 8, 2008

This week we are experience and learning a lot through meals.  Today at lunch, we ate at a Darfur refugee camp in Sudan.   We ate lunch in our field and it consisted of 2 pieces of bread and a ration of water.  This afternoon we had a Chinese tea and practiced using chopsticks and did games with small candies…thanks to our previous experience, both of our teams dominated.  The evening we ate Mexican chili with cornbread, but we question the origin of chili.   We feel that we can claim it as an American dish.  The focus today was on the persecuted church.  I (Johanna) feel like my eyes were and are really being opened to what is going on in other countries.

Tuesday evening I ate dinner on the floor.  We had a cultural meal from Afghanistan.  We were separated men and women and ate with our right hands only from a communal dish.  It was really cool and I learned a lot.

Verse of the day:  Luke 6:22—Blessed are you when men Hate you, when they Exclude you and Insult you and Reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man.  (HEIR)

Please pray for the persecuted church, that believers would stand firm and that more people would come to know Christ as a result of persecution.  (If you are interested in knowing more, check out The Voice of the Martyrs or Open Doors)
