Last night we watched the movie Ana and the King.  It painted an extreme picture of two different cultures.  One being British and the other the Monarchy of Siam (present day Thailand).  It was an excellent movie to discuss cultural assumptions and bias.  We also took a cultural bias survey, which closely resembled a personality profile.  I (Adam) have really enjoyed our conversations thus far, because the more we talk, the more I am able to assess the good and bad of the American culture.  I am getting more used to cashiers and or people helping me at a store talk to someone else while they are helping me.  I am getting used to slow fast food lines and people cutting in line.  I am beginning to understand the interaction of missionaries.  I still seem accountability and production as high values of a working relationship, but those take second fiddle a relationship with a person.  It has been challenging at times, but I am confident that it is shaping our character.

Culture verse of the day:  Acts 15:1-2 “Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.  This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them.  So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about the question.”

Please pray for a better understanding of our own cultural bias and more accurate worldview.
