I never thought I wanted an engagement ring, and when Adrian proposed without one, it was settled in my mind that we'd just do wedding bands. But I noticed he'd said "I don't have a ring...YET."

On Valentine's Day 2009, he DID have ring. And now I am the proudest owner of the most beautiful aquamarine ring I've ever seen.

Somehow it's exactly what I wanted without ever having realized I wanted.

For my graduation from IU in December 2005 and for my Christmas present that year, Adrian surprised me with a trip during IU's spring break. I didn't know where we were going until we arrived at O'Hare Airport in Chicago and I heard the ticket clerk say "Aruba"!
