They don't call us the BBQ Capital of Texas for nothin'... there's not one, but four "famous" bbq places in Lockhart. My favorite is Smitty's, (http://www.smittysmarket.com/news.htm) I get 1/4 lb of the lean beef, a hot-link and bread(that's at one counter by the open fire pit) the pork chops are awesome and so are the ribs, then at the second counter you gotta get some cheese, bbq sauce and a lemonade! It's like no other. Kruez (http://www.kreuzmarket.com/index.shtml) is famous for the name, it was around first and used to be in the building where Smitty's is located, now Smitty's has the old building and the seasoned pits that make the bbq amazing. They are similar styles just split by a family feud. Another is Chisholm Trail, probably my second favorite and I like it because they have sides and awesome chopped beef on a bun (Yum!). We'll be having them for the wedding so you may want to skip it so you can try the others. And lastly there's Black's, (http://www.blacksbbq.com/) they're similar to Chisholm with the sides, and I know their family who are all great and their bbq is awesome as well. You really can't go wrong with any of these! So take your pick and enjoy.
