Andy is my "little" brother who isn't so little anymore. Growing up out in the country we naturally played together because heck there isn't anyone else around. We've never fought growing up with the exception of just messing around wrestling on the living room floor...which we brought back this past Christmas. I'll tell ya it isn't as easy as it once was! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love playing sports and two of my most memorable moments came my senior year. Andy was a sophomore second string quarterback but got in the game when the starter went out and handed the ball off to me during an offensive series. I think that was awesome having your little brother in there playing with you. The other was running the mile relay with him. Our relay won district that year and made it to regionals and just watching him run his leg of the relay brought me a sense of pride. I can't be more proud to call Andy my brother and really admire him for who he has become. I'm thankful that he is a Christian, ever amazed at his unselfishness, and fortunate to have him as my best man. I love you bro!
Lauren is my little sister and will be my maid of honor. We are seven years apart and growing up I was always the big sister who helped mom by watching the kids. In the past few years Lauren has grown up into a beautiful young woman who is not just my little sister anymore but an amazing friend too. No matter how old we get I will always remember when Lauren was 2 years old she had these cute little brown curls and loved the word "NO", she always said it with such determination and now I see a strong young woman who not only knows what she wants, but also isn't afraid to say "No" to the things she knows are wrong. I have loved seeing her grow up, she has gone from the cute little curly haired toddler to an ornery little kid in middle school, and now she's a beautiful young lady who I admire. I Love you Lauren and I am so blessed to have you as my maid of honor in mine and Alan's wedding! We're gonna have fun these next few months.
I first met Matt (a.k.a. "Big Cat") freshman year of college at The Austin Stone Community Church. We became good friends and later roommates for two years of college (sophomore & junior year). His family has been like a second family to me throughout college and many a sunny day we've spent out on Lake Travis with "The Godfather & Mama Cannon". Matt & I meet up with my dad and brother for our yearly hunt the first weekend of mule deer season that is always a highlight. He has since left for Oklahoma City where he is working for a petroleum company. Fortunate for me his parents are building a house on Lake Travis, so while he is away working I'll get to be their second son and hang out with them on the lake. We'll always have our friendship and I couldn't be happier having him as a groomsman. (Single Ladies: Matt is an eligible bachelor seeking a fun, outdoorsy, energetic female companion)
Where do I begin... Michelle and I became friends our freshman year of high school. I moved to Lockhart my freshman year and didn't know anyone but quickly began to meet people through church and once school started in athletics. Michelle and I didn't really become good friends until track season. We were both at home base one night when we started talking and decided to run track so we started hanging out a lot more and "running" during first period. I remember one day we ran to her house and jumped on the trampoline for the whole period, we always had a blast. Up until I got my drivers license sophomore year Michelle's mom would always pick me up for school in the mornings, and once I got my license it was our ritual that we (Britney, Michelle and I) would always meet at Michelle's before school and we would all go together. Even once we all had our licenses we still met every morning and had to show up together. I have so many wonderful memories with Michelle and I can't imagine not having her in my life. If I ever had a second sister it would be Michelle, and not only has she been like a sister but her family has shown me so much love and always treated me like their own. Michelle, I am so excited to have you share in mine and Alan's special day, you've been an amazing best friend and always will be!
Sean has been my best friend since I moved to Dalhart in 2000. There aren't too many memories from high school I can remember without Sean being involved. After high school he moved to Lubbock and attended Texas Tech while I went to Austin and attended UT. We've kept our tradition of going to the Tech/UT game each year either here in Austin or up in Lubbock depending on the year. Now that my brother goes to Tech it makes it even more fun to get up that way to visit. Those are always fun weekends to catch up and hang out. He's since graduated from the fire academy and I'm hoping he'll find a job somewhere around Austin so we can hang out more often. Regardless, I know that we'll always find time to road trip to go float the river, catch a game, or just have a weekend of fun. I wouldn't dare have a wedding without Sean being a part of it and look forward to having him as a groomsman.
I met Vanessa the summer before our freshman year at high school. I had gone to visit Rachel, my roommate freshman year, and briefly met her for the first time. We hung out a little our freshman year when we all lived in Kinsolving and would often eat together in the awesome dining hall... ok that's a bit of an exageration. Anyways, Vanessa and I hung out from time to time with Rachel and other friends but didn't really get close until our Senior year of college. We really bonded our last semester and made so many fun memories together. A few in particular include flaming dr. peppers, blue waves, bloody mary's and beer-thirty mondays at gingerman. She definitely got me through my "going out" stage and we had a blast doing it! Vanessa, thank you for always driving, the tortillas, the oh so fun wine nights at your apartment (and great food) and for being an absolutely amazing friend! I Love you and am so honored that you are one of my bridesmaids!!!
David has been a friend of mine since I was in middle school in Canadian. We became best friends towards the end of middle school and through our freshman year of high school before I moved to Dalhart. We've definitely had some memorable times together through the years. One summer we went to the mean green football camp at the Univ. of North Texas. I'm not sure if we simply didn't pack any or forgot to put it on but sunscreen was never applied...so we spent the week applying aloe vera on each others backs. It wasn't funny at the time but pretty humorous looking back on it. We've always kept in touch although I always give him a hard time about never coming down to Austin to visit me. David is in Physical Therapy graduate school at Texas Tech University on the 12 year program hoping to graduate around 2015 (kiddin). He's an amazing friend and I'm excited to have him as a groomsman.
I met Kacie my sophomore year in college. The first time we met she was a little shy but we really got along from the get go. We started hanging out more and more and became good friends in a very short time. Kacie has become one of my best friends through college. She's one of those friends that I can call anytime and she'll listen and will always give me good advice. We've had so many great times together, one memory in particular that's my favorite of us was our 21st birthday celebration. We had a joint party at Kacie's boyfriends house with martini glasses for the girls, a pinata and ice cream cake! It was an unforgettable birthday and we had the best time celebrating together. I even broke Donovan's golf club on the pinata... sorry Donovan. Not only have we had so many great memories over the past few years but she's always been there for me during the rough times. Kacie, your friendship means the world to me and I'm so glad you're sharing in mine and Alan's special day!
I've only known Trey for a few years now but without him there probably would be no wedding. If you've already read "Our Story" then you know Trey's role in introducing Marie and I to each other. With that aside, Trey is a great friend whom I've enjoyed getting to know. We were roommates along with three other guys my senior year of college and had a blast. We had a pretty unique house and Trey and I had the downstairs rooms so we saw a lot of each other. I joke that his dog Chawko is half mine because Chawko pretty much grew up outside our rooms. Trey was also a sprinter on the track team with me and we have just a few memorable stories throughout our travels to and from track meets. I'm excited to have Trey as one of my groomsman and look forward to our friendship in the future.
Britney and I go back to the good 'ole high school days. We became friends around our sophomore year. Michelle and Britney were cheerleaders so the three of us quickly became really close friends and it wasn't long until we were nearly inseparable. I have so many great memories with Britney. I always loved our river trips to Fentress, going to the beach with her mom in the summer, spending time at Michelle's cabin over spring break, oh chubby face, sliding back and forth in miss b... goin to the river, and so many more that I could go on and on. Britney has always stuck by me through the thick and thin. It always means so much to me that every time she comes home she takes the time to see me no matter how busy her schedule is and how impossible I make it with my schedule. She would do anything I asked of her and will always be one of my best friends. Britney, I can't imagine going through life without you as a friend and it makes me smile knowing that you'll always be there for me and will always remain my best friend! I'm so glad you'll be up there with me on one of the most special days of my life!
