Grace went to see Sweeney Todd (the play) with her Mom on Saturday night, October 25th, 2008. Little did she know that while she was away, Alex was putting the finishing touches on a song he had been working on for about five months. Alex was expecting her home around nine so he finished his work long before nine hit. Hours passed and Alex paced until Grace finally arrived home at eleven. Alex had left all the candles burning in his recording room after his recording session. After Grace got home, she began to settle herself in for the night. Alex was puttering around and when she wasn't paying attention, he snuck off and called her Mum to ask her permission to ask Grace to marry him. Mum said yes. Alex joined Grace on the couch and she began channel surfing. When Saturday Night Fever came on, they watched it for a few minutes. Alex asked Grace if she wanted to come and listen to the song he'd been working on while she was at the play. Grace, already curled up in a comfy blanket, said, 'No, I'm watching Saturday Night Fever and I'm pretty comfortable.' (We're both really big John Travolta fans). After a few seconds, Grace looked at Alex with a very serious look on her face and said, 'Alex you deserve my undivided attention, so when you're ready, let me know, and we'll go listen to it.' Alex said, ' We'll wait until the break.' The break came and Alex was staring intently at the wall without realizing the commercials had started, so Grace told him and they went to the recording room. Grace sat and relaxed on the futon while Alex nervously played with the controls. The song began and they both started listening to it. Grace began tearing up when she listened to the song because it was so beautiful and the words were so meaningful. When the song prompted him to, Alex stole over to the futon with the ring in his pocket and dropped to his knee to propose. Alex said, "Grace, will you marry me?' and Grace grabbed the ring, put it on her finger herself, and said, 'Yes!' They both cried, kissed, and hugged, and listened to the song once again. They spent the rest of the night telling the world and being ridiculously happy.
