We are so happy with the friends we have sharing this day with us, so here is what Amy has to say about her attendants and Dustin about his...
Melissa is my best best best best girlfriend in the world. I can't imagine going through my life without her and hope when I have kids that they have half as much fun as we did growing up! I love thinking back to all the same things we would play over and over and over: building some kick-ass haunted houses, making up dance routines, lip synching to whitney houston to make our own concerts, playing school, giving each other blind taste tests of random foods in the kitchen (and trusting that the other wouldn't feed you something you absolutely despised). Then our friendship continued as we got older and played tennis together in high school and then went to U of I and joined the same sorority. I'm glad we both ended up in the same city (not necessarily st louis!) so our lives can continue together.
Stefanie is one of my best friends from college. We lived on the same floor and were in the same sorority. So many great college memories that I can't even begin to name them all, but really had the best years of my life there and was glad to share so many of the memories with her! The funniest that comes to mind was when we were at a Barndance and I can't find her for a bit and finally she comes walking up covered in wet mud and not a happy camper. She had fallen into a creek! It was not good at the time, but we can laugh now! Even though I'm horrible with staying in touch with people, we have since college...although this last year has been tougher since she moved out to California and I haven't seen her in a while. I'm SO excited for her to be here for the wedding and spend some time together again! (the pic is us with illini basketball players, not random dudes at the bar!)
Crystal works at AT&T with us and was friends with Dustin initally, so that is how I got to know her. She's been a great friend and always been there for me and we have so many fun memories over the years and hopefully much more still to come...if we're not too old yet. I'm deeming her Dustin's 2nd wife because she does all the things with him that I don't enjoy-- such as dancing and karoake. If I have any nerves the day of the wedding, Crystal will be the goofball to make it fun!
I've known Mandi the shortest of the bridesmaids, but doesn't feel that way cause she was so easy to get along with and fun to hang out with! She is married to Devin and we really enjoy hanging out with both of them. They'll be having their first baby this fall, so Mandi is a saint to be dealing with all my wedding stuff while pregnant...and with such enthusiasm! She is the only married bridesmaid, so I will be leaning on her for all the advice! (She is the beauty on the right)
Alexa is my youngest cousin, which really amazes me that she will be 12 cause seems just like yesterday that we'd be belting out veggie tales songs! She recently got a dog and they are really our first family members that will have a pet....so you know what that means, I'll probably never be back at their house! Although Scooter looks pretty harmless, so MAYBE, and I stress the MAYBE, there will be a dog that I'm not scared of.
How do you describe a best man? I think this about sums it up.
"Dustin, what's your birthdate?" Daniel shouts across the house.
"it's March 21st, 1979" I shout back.
"Dustin how old are you?"
"I'm 18, stop asking me questions"
"Dustin, what's your social security number?"
"What the heck, who are you talking to???!!"
"Dustin, the Navy is on the phone, I signed you up so I can get a free flashlight".
If that's not love, I just don't know what is. In all reality, the world could not have delivered a more loving and caring brother and I am honored to have him as my best man.
Bit of advice for everyone. There we are in the old 1992 blue Ford Taurus: dad, Daniel, me, and Royi. We hit the border at Windsor on the way into Canada for a week of vacation. Naturally, border patrol asks for some nationalities. Dad turns around points to Daniel, "American", points to me "Canadian", points to Royi, "Israeli". Border cop stops dad right there, "alright smart guy, pull on over to the station over there and get out for some questions. Moral, don't try to cross the border with Royi.
Royi has been my best friend since I met him in 1986. His family has been like my family, I love him like a brother. Nevertheless, I am going to keep pestering them to move from lame Miami to beautiful St Louis.
I'd say little known fact, but it's not. Without Devin, I'd never have met Amy. There we are at Mississippi Nights and Devin looks up and says "I know that girl, cut blonde one up there..." I just looked at Amy, looked back at Devin and responded with "uh huh, sure you do". There goes Devin, walks up and talks to her, sure enough, he wasn't lying. He busted out some of those devedev sweet moves and before I knew it she was talking to me and meeting for lunch, and eventually I suckered her into marrying me. That's what lunch will do for you I guess.
Devin gave me the honor of being the best man in his wedding last year. I couldn't imagine mine without him.
Every blossomed relationship needs a starting point, something two parties have in common, like the same taste in fine art, the same favorite book, a secret french restaurant that nobody else knows about, or of course, just lots of beer. I don't think we've ever seen a painting we cared about, I'm almost certain neither of us have ever read a book, books make you dum, french restaurants, well I'm sure they're awesome because we love cheese. So there you have it, cheese and beer.
Having some of my closest friends here with me in St. Louis has really made me a happier person. Maurit I hope you and Lydia never leave because the city just wouldn't be as awesome without you.
I was the best man in Matt's wedding right after college. As one of the best man duties I had to give my speech. So I had my story set, I was ready to go. Well, Matt's dad got to give a speech before me, and somehow, I have no idea how, he stole my story. I don't think my stomach has ever dropped like that. So I totally had to wing it. A few hours later, we're dancing around, Jess pulls me aside and asks "do you seriously know one single thing about me and Matt? Every single thing you said in your speech was wrong." That's called thinking poorly on your feet. I pride myself on that.
Matt breaks the trend of members in my wedding party by actually reading books. At least he likes beer though. I can't wait to see you guys and being surrounded by my best friends on my wedding day will be something I remember forever.
Keenan is my newly runt brother and is just the cutest little guy! The ceremony aisle is rather long, so we're hoping we'll be able to get him to walk down the aisle without tripping and tossing the rings into a rose bush. He'll have just turned 3 before the wedding. Keenan loves playing with cars-- seems like he can be entertained for hours with them, so perhaps we should buy some car shaped rings.
