It was his Andy's grandmother's birthday so we took flowers and a lovely card (if I do say so myself!) to the family farm that night, about an hour North of Toronto.
He was very insistent on running up the hill to take photos as the sun was coming down, so of course, I walked up with him (panted up after him, rather). Once we finally got there, it was an absolutely beautiful view, and we found ourselves standing at his favorite spot.
We met his uncle, who was checking on the cows, and we played with the calves for a while, then Barry (the uncle) went back down to the house. So I try nudging Andy along, telling him we should go back down to his grandmother... and then he turns around, tells me that there was another reason he brought me up there.
And there, on the hill, with three curious calves for an audience, he got down on one knee and pulled a ring out of his billfold, and asked if I'll be his wife for the next little while, the next 50 years or so.
