The many chapters in our story...
This story has been told time and time again.
Pearlyn first saw Andy walk past the dance studio in Level 2 some time in 1998. That time, she thought to herself, "Wah.. This tall and handsome guy actually looks like Thomas Ong! So cute!" and developed the hugest crush on him ever since then. ==> Taken in the first year we got together in 2001 :D
No, the two of them didn't get together immediately of course. True love doesn't come that easy. They started out as friends who confided in each other about their r/s problems, then became good friends who shared their deepest secrets and fears. And finally after 3 years, our dear Andy decided to ask Pearlyn to be his girlfriend - both of them stepped into the relationship, uncertain of what the future holds for them (or if it even existed!).
The walk has been long and tough, but it is also filled with beautiful and sweet memories - which both of them wouldn't change for anything in the world. Fast forward to 7½ years later, they are now preparing to get married next December 2009 :)
it's so surreal looking at the stone on my left ring finger. really, i still can't believe the day night has finally arrived after 6 years.. *silly grin*
read on. you will probably think, "girl! it's sooo blardy obvious!! can't you tell the signs that he's going to propose?"
well really, i just couldn't see it coming 'cos we just have too many instances of our daily conversations peppered with the words "propose", "ring", "get married" etc.. haha.
and trust me, you'll really be the last to know that your boyfriend is going to propose to you even though you 2 have already discussed this long before!
the boyfriend asked me out for dinner at Sushi Tei before our Jacky Cheung's concert at the indoor stadium at night; he's usually not a sushi/sashimi person but he told me that the food's really good so he wants me to try it.
dinner was good, we chatted and he revealed to me that andy teo has just gotten a diamond ring to propose to his girlfriend, stacia.
then our conversation went..
"then when is my turn??"
"end of this year lah.."
"cannot say! now got no element of surprise liao! cannot say one you know.. den later end of this year u never propose den how?"
[warning lights flashing!!] <-- that would be situation no. 1 i guess! but really, there was not a tinge of suspicion there cos like what i've said, we had too much of these conversations already.

us with the tickets!
the last night of the concert was really good because Jacky Cheung had sang an extra hour and sang many of our favourite songs, some of which almost had the boyfriend reach for the ring to propose to me.. i will tell you more later 'cos it's rather hilarious..
he also kept my phone in his pocket the whole time during the concert. he was so afraid that our mutual friends might send me congratulatory texts! haha.. each time i ask for my phone back, he'll say "nobody msg you lah.. i keep your phone for you.." hmmms. o_O
alright, i shall skip to the main part okay?
[/forwards to after concert..]
we wanted to take a walk after the concert so he brought me to the riverside.. and i had to spoil the romantic moment by saying, "later we see a floating body how?" wahaha. anti-climax right..
after walking to this spot away from another couple, we sat down and talked for a veryyy short while den he told me he has a card (which was supposed to come with my anniversary present) for me. he told me he had stayed up late to write this, which i thought was really sweet cos he doesn't usually write to me.

seriously, i still hadn't seen it coming. really.
then there was this little part when he pasted an origami paper over..

and although i only saw 1/2 of what he wrote..

my reaction was like, [panic button alert!] nooooo way, he IS going to propose now!! he then sang, "now and forever.. i'll be your man". and yes, i cried like crazy. i couldn't stop crying.. he had to wait for me to calm my nerves before he got down on one knee to ask the question.
i was won over.
so that was how he proposed. but the funny parts were where he almost did it during the concert.
he almost proposed these few times:
(i) 1st time - Jacky Cheung was singing Emil Chau's "明天我要嫁給你" (loosely translated as "I'm getting married to you tomorrow") and the boyfriend was thinking, "God, don't play with me. Do you really want me to propose to her now?" he was about to reach for the ring already when i asked him, "So are you going to propose to me now?" haha. i had to burst my own bubble right! so he didn't, in the end.
(ii) 2nd time - the song J.C was singing is "每天爱你多一些" (Love You More Each Day) and i was busily snapping away photos. he asked me to stop snapping photos because he already had the box underneath his knee and was just about to ask when i said, "Nevermind lah, i also don't understand cantonese.." wahaha. he then kept the ring again.
(iii) 3rd time - the boyfriend likes this song, "情书" (Love Letter) but it's a breakup song. so he was like, "Erm, i can't propose with this song can i?"
the boyfriend fiance has really surprised me sooooo much okay.. and i am overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness..
some interesting facts:
1. he had bought the diamond ring after Chinese New Year
2. he has shown it to alot of people - my mom was the first to see it.
3. he's been planning this ever since March.
4. everybody else knows that he's going to propose but me (at least not until the end of the year i thought!)
5. he thought of proposing to me on my flight.
6. he had emailed to an UnUsUal Productions personnel to see if he/she can get Jacky Cheung to assist in the proposal in any way he can.
7. he changed the ring a second time. hee. i got a slightly bigger diamond!
more to come.. i just can't remember! my mind is running in every direction!!
and now, you must be screaming.. SHOW ME THE RING!!! heh. here it is..
