General Info

In summer, the problem is not what to do, but how to choose! For the outdoor enthusiast, you can pick from hiking, biking, camping, fishing, rafting, Marina activities, kayaking, frisbee golf, playgrounds, picnics, skate park, 4×4 trails, and outdoor concerts. You could take the rec path up Ten Mile Canyon to Copper and do a chair lift ride, bumper boats, quad power jump, climbing wall, go-karts, downhill mountain biking, Diggler Scooters, and horseback rides. Whew! That’s not even including indoor activities!

If you decide you have had enough sun and fresh mountain air, you can shop the quaint stores on Main Street, get a much needed massage or treatment, grab a tasty meal at one of over 30 eateries, or walk through time at the Historic Park and Museum. If the kids (even big kids) are looking to try some tricks in an indoor and safe environment, Camp Woodward at Copper offers a chance for anyone to try out flips and jumps into a foam pit while harnessed in for safety. Other indoor activities just down the road from Frisco include an Outlet Mall, gold mine tours, bowling, movie theaters and numerous scenic drives. By making Frisco your hub for activities, you can access all that the mountains have to offer.

Biking:
There are miles and miles of beautiful paved trails to take you all around Summit County. Here are a few favorites:
* Frisco to Breckenridge: If looking for a comfortable paved road bike ride, then the Frisco to Breckenridge section of the Summit County Bike system is a great ride for you. This ride is a moderate grade but offers a variety of scenery to look at as you pass by.
* Frisco to Keystone: This amazing paved bike trail takes you around Lake Dillon and follows the flow of the Snake River to Keystone Village.
* Frisco to Vail Pass: If you are looking for a vertical gain of about 1500 feet and impeciable views, then a ride to the top of Vail Pass is a must do.
* Lake Loop: A perfect ride for those who enjoy a loop instead of an up and back ride. With a variety of climbs and descents and views from Lake Dillon, this ride is sure to please.

Mountain Biking:
There are a few trails around Frisco and Dillon, on the way to Keystone. For some real action (or for those too lazy to climb uphill) I recommend going to Copper where you can buy a lift ticket to take your bike to the top and scream down the mountain. Good for all ability levels as there are several types of trails. Costs somewhere around $20 for the day. If you need to rent a bike for this check out Peak Sports at the bottom of the Eagle Lift.

Disc Golf:
There's a great disc golf course (one of the best in Colorado) in Frisco on Hwy 9 just on the way to Breckenridge. By the Nordic Center on Lake Dillon.

Golf Golf:
There are plenty of world class golf courses around Frisco. Check out Breckenridge, Eagle's Nest, and Keystone. Skip Copper. Rates go down significantly after 2 pm.

Water sports:
You can rent a kayak or a sail boat at the Frisco Marina, which is easily walkable from downtown.

Rafting:
There is a fair amount of rafting within an hour or two's drive of Frisco. Check out www.whitewatercolorado.com.

Restaurants

Restaurants

Here are a few of our favorite places to eat in Frisco, all of which are on Main Street, within walking distance of wedding hotels:

The Blue Spruce: Madison and Main St. Awesome bar serves the delicous, otherwise pricey food at reasonable prices. If you are looking for a nice or fancy meal, sit in the restaurant. Delicious food, beer homebrewed by sister bar in Dillon.

The Boat Yard: 4th and Main. An eclectic mix of food options, good for people who can't agree on what they want. All of the food is very good and reasonably priced. Portions are large - I always order way too much here!

Bagali's: 4th and Main. Tasty italian restaurant with good pizza and a great wine selection. Middle ground pricing. Excellent service.

Backcountry Brewery: Summit Blvd and Main. They've won 4 medals at the Great American Beer Fest. Need we say more?

Butterhorn Bakery: 5th and Main. Awesome bakery, perfect for breakfast or lunch. Inexpensive.

Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters: 2nd and Main. Best place to get coffee, perhaps in all of Summit County.

Alpine Foods: west side of Main. Natural food store - good place.

Scenic Drives

Because of Frisco's central location it is easy to view the most of the beauty the mountains have to offer. The following are some popular drives visitors like to do in our area-be sure to watch for wildlife and be respectful of other drivers.
Copper-Leadville-Minturn Loop

From Frisco, go west on I-70 for 6 miles to the Copper/Leadville exit. This is 91-take 91 past Copper (great place to stop for lunch or do a chair lift ride) on towards Leadville. Just before Leadville, exit 24 towards Minturn. You can detour to Leadville and get some great views of 14,000 foot mountains and enjoy the town’s unique history. Once on 24, you can see the remains of Camp Hale, a military training camp from days gone by. Pass Minturn and turn on to I-70 west which will bring you past Vail back to Summit County and Frisco. Give yourself a good half a day for this drive.
Loveland Pass Loop

From Frisco take I-70 East to the next exit 205 (Silverthorne/Dillon) and exit to the right towards Dillon. This road is HWY 6 which will lead you past Keystone, past A-Basin, to the top of the Continental Divide. This is a great spot to park, take a short walking trail and get some pictures on top of the Divide. From the top, follow the road down Loveland Pass back to I-70. Head West to bring you back to Summit County and Frisco. This drive is less than half a day.
Independence Pass Loop (summer only)

From Frisco, go to I-70 West and exit Copper/Leadville HWY 91. Follow 91 through Leadville to HWY 82. You will see signs for Twin Lakes which is a great picture stopping place. Follow 82 to Aspen by going over Independence Pass. It is a little windy and steep so be sure you are not in a hurry and not afraid of heights! Around Aspen are great views of the Maroon Bells and other mountain peaks. Follow 82 along to I-70 where you will intersect with Glenwood Springs. This is a good place to relax and soak in a natural hot spring. After your soak, drive East an hour and a half back to Summit County and Frisco. This is an all day driving tour after you take in stops for pictures, meals, and hot springs.

Frisco Historic Park and Museum

Take a step back into time and transport yourself to the 1800’s. Experience what it may have been like to be a pioneer coming into a new territory for trapping, mining and ranching. As you take this journey please enjoy exploring the exhibits in the museum in addition to the wonderful displays and artifacts in the park buildings.
