According to Mama Hood, We have known each other since before we could spell our names... or tie our shoes... or read a book. We were only about 2 years old when we met at Keelesdale. We would play together while our brothers played hockey together.
Several years later, we would again meet, only this time, it was while playing baseball at Gulliver Park. I (Jenn) had a crush on this really cute pitcher. You guessed it... Nick.
Several years went by before we saw each other again. By that time, we were both in high school. Neither of us could get the other out of their heads, but due to different circumstances, neither of us could act on our feelings. One day, a group of us were going for a walk and I tripped (clumsy me lol) and he caught me. Still, though the feelings were there, aside from thank-you, nothing else was said.
Both of us moved on with our lives for a while after that. He got married and moved away to Australia. I almost got married and had 2 little boys. We didn't speak for 7 years.
One night, Christine asked me to go to an engagement party Stacey was having. I tagged along and Nick happened to be there as well. We talked like old friends that had known each other forever and never been apart. We said goodbye that night and I thought there was no way I would ever see him again. How wrong I was!
With Stacey's wedding fast approaching, Christine's husband, Matt had started a new job and was no longer able to uphold the "yes I will attend" RSVP that had previously been sent. Christine asked me to fill in as her date for the night. I agreed. The day before the wedding, one of the groomsmen fell ill and Nick was asked to fill in. He would not have been there otherwise. Again, we were talking like old friends. Nick reminded me of the time I tripped and he caught me. He told me about how he had wanted to tell me how he felt but couldn't. I admitted having felt the same. We became friends, then lovers, but we were always soulmates.
