Ask the Editor: How Much Music?

How much ceremony music is appropriate? There are several songs that I would like to incorporate, and I am having a difficult time narrowing them down. Nina, Ft. Lewis, WA

Although the wedding ceremony will go be very fast for you, the same might not be true for your guests if they are sitting through countless songs and readings. Use your favorite pieces during parts of the ceremony where it makes sense, such as candle lighting, processionals and recessionals. If you are having live musicians perform, one or two pieces is fine, but anything additional will just start to weigh down the ceremony. If you have songs left over that you still really love, use them as key pieces of music during the reception.
