So, I know it’s Wednesday and the weekend seems so very, very far away. I get that you need a little happy this morning. And this AMAZING wedding photographed by Vitalic Photo totally delivers. I mean, seriously. The wedding cake? To die for. Carmen’s hair? Flawless. And I am pretty much head-over-heels for her flowers. So, yes, it is Wednesday. But it could be worse. It could be Tuesday.
Did your wedding location hold a specific significance to you?
Yes! It was love at first. I knew I wanted to find a venue that would carry a sense of royalty from the 1800’s. I’m a lover of Victorian decor and history. So for me, it was the perfect venue for the theme I was going for. I wouldn’t have changed it!
What was the most meaningful part of your day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing my best friend…my soon to be husband cry when he saw me. I was SO nervous all morning and stressed with so many people watching me, but when I saw his face, my heart was filled with instant calm and utter joy. It was him and me. One of the best feelings in the world knowing I’m marrying the guy I always prayed for as a kid.
Did anything funny or out of the ordinary happen?
Yes!! We were supposed to do a rehearsed dance for our first dance, a song by Juno called “All I want is you.” Well, I walk into the ballroom waiting for my groom to meet me, and I can’t find him anywhere!! My wedding planner was telling me to keep walking and all I see is everyone staring and pointing to a chair in the middle of the dance floor. I was so confused!!! Everyone is laughing and I’m still looking for my groom!!! About 5 minutes later I see him… on stage…. with a guitar..and singing my song.
I just died laughing. It was hilarious. I should have known Mr. Surprise would do something sneaky! It was great.
Tell us details of the events surrounding the wedding as well.
We went to Crave for the rehearsal lunch! I recommend that place to anyone in Orlando, FL Area. The staff was great and the food was delicious! Then the girls went to Kois Day spa before the big day! Instead of just the bridal party and mothers, I invited my close friends who weren’t in the wedding and close cousin. It was the salon I’ve been to since I was 14! So the owner and I go way back! She was so excited for me to be getting hitched she had a whole set up of desserts/snacks and wine!
-The night before the wedding I couldn’t bear being without my husband to be. So his boys and my girls met downtown Orlando at the Corona’s for a last night of relaxation and laughter.
How did you know your partner was “the one”?
Well, kind of funny story…We have always been best friends for years! About 15 years to be exact.
He was always the one guy friend I never ever had a crush on!! He was like a “brother” who I knew wouldn’t go anywhere and I could always trust and talk to about anything. I would always vent to him about guy problems and tell him the girls he chose were NOT good enough.
I started to notice him in a different way after I was in a relationship that went bad. After the break-up we started to hangout a lot and I just couldn’t understand
why I was falling for my BEST FRIEND?? I always prayed I would marry my best friend, but never knew the prayer I was seeking was right in front of me my whole life.
We just hit it off on a completely different level…and in three months I was sold he was the one for me. We dated for about 8 months… and then he proposed to me!
I was in shock for about 5 min… He did it in an indoor sky diving facility. I went up on my second round, and when I came down he was on his knees and gave me the most perfect emerald ring.
It was perfect. Everyday I’m more and more convinced he’s the perfect one for me. It’s a very comforting feeling.
Any advice you’d give new brides who are just getting started?
YES. #1. Always stick to your guns. Don’t worry what your in-laws think, your sisters, friends, etc. It’s all about YOU and your husband.
#2. Men love to help- so give them a couple of things to do so they feel a part of everything too. But remind them it is ALL about you, because when YOU’RE happy-They’re happy.
#3. Get a Wedding Planner. Mine was the best!! I couldn’t have done everything without her.
#4 Don’t let the whole perfect bridesmaids dream ruin your day. I had two drop outs, one from my own sister so it’s just the way things go sometimes.
#5 Having Pinterest was BEAUTIFUL. I took it to my florist, venue, wedding planner, caterers.. They need to know your theme/personality and Pinterest is the perfect way to show them that.
#6 You are the Queen. The Boss. The Bride. You just wave that wand and make it happen. Have as many coffees, wines, yoga classes, vents to your bff, and do add some chocolate in there too. The stress is normal.. so just try to enjoy it and take every month task-one-step at a time.
#8 Remember why you’re getting married and don’t get TOO consumed on the planning taking over your mind/life.
You’re marrying the one that will always be with you. The love of your life.
Which is priceless.
#9 Lastly- DO spend the etc money on the following:
-makeup artist- she makes your skin look flawless.
– photographers- something you will have forever. That day goes by so fast. I loved our pictures and I’m so glad I went with amazing talented women!
– the venue- That venue is what will make or break your theme. Go with your gut and spend the extra cash if you have it. It really makes a difference.
