This inaugural wedding is a doozy. It’s about as glam as they come, every photo reveals a new, steal-worthy detail and the bride and groom, well, let’s just say they don’t come cooler than Chris and CC. Seriously. I can’t decide if Noa over at Feather Love Photography just happens to shoot the hippest people on the planet or if her skills just bring out the inner Rat Pack in everyone. It’s probably a bit of both.
There are just so many details to check out in this wedding! The ridiculously chic flower girl, the homey outdoor seating area, the Hummel cake topper, their getaway car – it just goes on and on. But, I have to point out what really made me fall in love with this wedding – the photo of the older gentlemen who is being straightened and clucked over within an inch of his life and…well, you’re just going to have to check out his classic expression (don’t worry, you’ll see that it all works out in the end).
A big thank you to Chris and CC for sharing their remarkable day (make sure to read about CC’s thoughts on the day below) and to Feather Love Photography for starting us off with a bang.
Any specific details, your vision for the day, any DIY projects you both did or have special meaning….
We made the cans on the back of our getaway car with satin ribbon and tin cans. I silk screened all of the linen giveaway bags with our ‘crest’ that held the flower seeds that we gave as our gift to our guests. We had a stamp made with our wedding logo and we stamped all of the bags for the candy bar. We also compiled a toy and goodies bag for the kids that attended; we filled it with army men, lollipops, and paddle balls and candies. We also made signs for the wedding that we placed on the road to direct our guests. We also set up a fireplace seating with couches with blankets, a chest table, and firewood to really make the area warm and homey.
Did your wedding location hold a specific significance to you?
We are outdoorsy people & we love the fresh air – that’s why we chose Tierra Rejada Ranch as our wedding venue. The ceremony was held in the middle of an old walnut grove. It was extremely beautiful, the trees in May are amazing and green. You could hear tiny finches in the trees while the ceremony was taking place. We are a very traditional couple and we wanted to make sure that we picked a timeless location.
What was the most meaningful part of your day?
For me it was the ceremony and saying our vows. It felt so perfect having our family and friends there while we told each other how much we loved each other.
Did anything funny or out of the ordinary happen?
My grandpa (Papa Odie) is an old surfboard shaper and he is kind of rough around the edges. While guests were being seated and he was in the audience waiting to walk me down the aisle, he started to get a little antsy and said, ‘Okay, Cristin let’s get the show on the road!’ Unfortunately I wasn’t able to hear that but I sure heard all about it from my friends and family members! Everyone thought it was hilarious!
Tell us details of the events surrounding the wedding as well.
Our whole theme was the ‘collected over time look.’ We had a great florist help us get that desired look. Chris and I collected things everywhere we went. We picked up old bottles here and there, we searched through our families’ garages and found tons of cool stuff for the wedding. My favorite was the ‘family tree’ where we hung actual pictures of our family in frames all over the tree. It was something that our guests loved to look at between the ceremony and reception.
We also loved our vintage photo booth. The pictures taken in the photo booth were put in our guest book and the guests signed next to it! We love looking through it and being able to see how much fun everyone had at our wedding. We also had a big American flag hung up above the coffee bar. It really tied in the whole vintage feel of our wedding!
How did you know your partner was “the one”?
Well we met in the fourth grade (Mrs. Candies class) and we became great friends! We went all through elementary, junior high and high school with each other. In sophomore year of high school we started dating and we’ve stayed together ever since! We have experienced so much of life together and grown up together. We have a bond that is so strong, it is something that we are so thankful for. We are truly blessed.
Any advice you’d give new brides who are just getting started?
Don’t sweat the small stuff and just go with the flow. Times get crazy and you can get sucked into the craziness. Also, everyone says the day goes by fast and it really does. Stop and take five minutes and just look around at the whole thing, everything set up, and all of your friends and family there. It is something that we did at our wedding and it was so nice just to look at all the hard work and everything that you both have been planning (which seems like it took FOREVER) and just soak it all in. The whole point of the day is to enjoy it with your soul mate, friends and family. You will make memories you will have for the rest of your life. Don’t forget to have fun!
