Cape Town Destination Wedding Requirements
Since you have to have an authorized marriage officer to get married in South Africa, its best to consult with your resort about South African wedding officers in your area. On the wedding day it will be required that you bring passports and any divorce decrees and death certificates to present to your assigned wedding officiant. There is a minimum of two required witnesses and the marriage must be conducted in a church or a building used for religious purposes.
Cape Town Marriage Locale Requirements
You can get married in a public office or a private house, but it must have open doors in the building. (No underground marriages allowed here.) If you are hoping for an outdoor wedding, you must, at some point, perform an indoor ceremony to seal the deal legally.
After the ceremony, the marriage officer will immediately provide you with an unabridged marriage certificate. He or she will be responsible for submitting that document to the Department of Home Affairs. You’ll be issued the complete marriage certificate (mailed to your home) within 6-8 weeks.
