How to Find the Right Vintage Pieces for Your Wedding

If you are having a vintage or retro wedding, chances are you are wondering how to find all of those great detail pieces you see in real weddings. Here are a few helpful tips:

Stick to one era. If you want a lovely vintage affair reminiscent of a scene of Anne of Green Gables, then don’t mix antique lanterns with 1960s Pyrex.

Keep your tables from looking like a garage sale display.  It’s really easy for a beautiful tablescape to quickly become too much. The cornerstone of a vintage wedding is its simplicity. When you look through real weddings that inspire you, focus on how they have edited their displays to be refined and elegant.

Purchase wisely.  You could easily spend hundreds of dollars on antiques. Make sure you spend money on the items that you will use again and cherish, and save money on those intended solely for wedding decor. Estate sales and Etsy are wonderful places to find a wide range of collectibles at different price points.

This is not a last minute task.  Trolling Etsy and scouring local yard sales are both very time-consuming. And just like finding a wedding dress, you are not guaranteed to find exactly what you want on your first time out. The most successful vintage weddings are built methodically, not the week before.  Give yourself time for frequent visits online, at thrift shops, antiquing, etc.
