Julia and Tony’s wedding was certainly filled with good fortune. First, they actually won their rings at a wedding show, and then they were able to secure their dream venue: The Towers. And of course, the cherry on top was getting the lovely Olivia Gird to shoot their big day!
What was your wedding’s theme?
Since my wedding was at the Towers, I wanted the theme to be very romantic and Victorian. I bought a set of Victorian-inspired dishes from Savors and glued the plates to glass goblets and used them as centerpieces. I bought small Yankee candles and wrapped them in lace doilies for favors. My husband Tony wrote in calligraphy for the place cards. Each table had a theme with a picture going along with the place card name. (For example: Mr. & Mrs. Smith – Boston) is what the place card said and the guest would find which table had a picture of that place.
Did your venue hold any special significance?
Yes, our wedding venue held a lot of significance to us. I had always dreamed of us getting married at the Towers. I thought it looked like a castle but never thought we would be able to afford a wedding there. We saw a wedding there last summer and Tony said we would somehow get married there but I did not believe him. Less than a year later-it happened!
Anything out of the ordinary happen?
The ceremony was supposed to be outside and the reception inside. However, due to a severe thunderstorm our guests were moved inside for the ceremony. I was told by everyone after the ceremony that my entrance down the aisle was the most dramatic they have ever seen because of all the thunder and lightning striking at the same time. After the ceremony, the storm cleared and we were able to take all of our group pictures outside which made me very happy! We also were able to enjoy a rainbow during the reception.
An interesting fact about the events surrounding our wedding is that we were the grand prize winners of two $5,000 wedding bands at the Newport Wedding Show back in February. We entered a free drawing and they called Tony’s name! We were so blessed!
How did you know Tony was the one?
Tony is my best friend. We have known each other for ten years, since I was 14. We dated for about 5 years before we got engaged. I knew all along he was the one because he treats me like an angel and would do anything for me. I think to put someone else before yourself is an amazing trait to possess.
Any advice for other brides?
Not everything is going to be “perfect” throughout your wedding planning but in the end everything works out. Enjoy the actual day and remember to just have fun with your groom and guests!
