From Carlsbad to Chula Vista, San Diego County is crammed with scenic ocean overlooks, unexpected mountains and a healthy serving of Spanish architecture. The wedding venues in this stretch of land are wonderful and varied, and almost always piled high with beautiful landscaping. From ranch to villa to one private country estate, we found three venues we’d happily say “I do” to.
Leo Carillo Ranch
If you like adobe buildings, white-washed walls, succulents, antique windmills and any general combination of old California architecture and rustic Spanish charm – plus a few dozen peacocks – you will probably adore Leo Carillo Ranch . Formerly a real working ranchero, now a historic park, this Carlsbad venue includes a reflecting pool and courtyard that can accommodate parties of up to 150 guests and is the final word in rustic-romantic.
The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe
Possibly one of the prettiest destination wedding ready locations around (80 guestrooms, villas and cottages cover the Inn’s 21-acre property), The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is primed and ready for matrimonial splendor on any scale. Vows can be made beneath an ancient Brazilian pepper tree while receptions are held in a private garden with open sky and market lights overhead.
La Jolla just might be everyone’s favorite part of San Diego County to get married. Charming town, dreamy beaches, and buildings with more personal history than we can shake a corsage at – yes, a La Jolla wedding may actually be perfect. Specifically speaking, when it comes to wedding venues in La Jolla, we love the Darlington House. The one time seasonal home of a Mrs. Sybil Darlington, the villa’s tiled patios, Roman arches, and well-manicured gardens are fit for a queen – or a bride.
