Outdoor Wedding Venues in Portland

Bride and groom embracing in an open forest space outside of Portland, Oregon.

With miles of trails and one of the largest municipal parks in the United States, Portland is one city that knows how to keep urban sprawl firmly in check and carefully matched by green space. Which means one very important thing for wedding-planning types: a ceremony or reception in the midst of nature’s finery is not only a viable option, but also an easily accessible one. From city parks and nature preserves to vineyards just outside the city, the choices border on endless. Here are a few of our absolute favorites.

Hoyt Arboretum

Called a living museum and only ten minutes from downtown, Hoyt Arboretum is an idyllic spot to say “I do.” Four different facilities are available for private rental (we like the Wedding Meadow, which is available for full-day rentals, although the Redwood Deck is pretty dreamy, too). The Arboretum also happily offers ideas and inspiration for eco-friendly, “green,” weddings.

Domaine Margelle

Whimsical, romantic and with a view to die for, this country vineyard, located in the Willamette Valley and only about an hour drive from the Portland city limits, is an exclusively outdoor venue. Walk a quiet country road, sip cocktails on the vineyards lush green lawns, or wander through the grape vines themselves before dancing the night away under an open sky.

Langdon Farms

A little bit of outdoor ceremony, a little bit of covered reception: Langdon Farms is home to a wedding venue that is indoor, outdoor and one hundred percent just right. The Red Shed, resident reception site of choice, is a uniquely designed, open-air structure and even though the venue shares its grounds with an 18-hole golf course, this place is all rustic red barn and farmhouse-inspired architecture with a side of white picket fence.

P.S. Don’t forget to use the best planning tools around – our wedding websites are perfect for communicating with your guests and sharing the details of your wedding day and registry.
