Planning a Kentucky Wedding

From the rolling hills of horse country to the distilleries of Lexington’s Bourbon Trail and Louisville’s foodie culture, Kentucky is a dream for locals and visitors alike. Even better – the historic buildings and museums, incredible scenery, and a solid dose of Southern charm make this state an incredible place to plan your wedding. We’ve got just a few suggestions to help you get started.

Kentucky Wedding Venues

When in Kentucky, feel free to fully embrace the state’s personality as you plan your wedding. That means historic homes, sprawling lawns, and overall photo-op ready scenery. The Headley-Whitney Museum is one example of the type of venue we’re talking about. The La Belle House, part of the property and a wedding site extraordinaire, makes for a beautiful ceremony location.  Designed in 1926 and surrounded by trees, the building is elegant, detailed, and just a little bit rustic. The Glen-Willis House, tucked into the banks of the Kentucky River, is another historic venue that simply oozes local character. The red brick exterior, brightly colored interior, and expansive back porch with a view of the river are pretty charming, too.

Kentucky Wedding Dresses

Once you’ve got your venue pinned down, it’s only practical for you to turn your attention to other parts of the wedding planning process. Like the dress, for example. And while finding the perfect fit for your wedding day can be a process (alterations and accessorizing included!) we think that we have a place or two up our sleeves to help you find a Kentucky wedding dress for you. Try Couture Closet, for example. Located in La Grange, this boutique vows to give brides the most memorable wedding dress shopping experience around. Meanwhile, House of White Bridal Boutique is right across the Indiana state line and offers a serious collection of gowns to Kentucky and Indiana brides alike.

P.S. Don’t forget to use the best planning tools around – our wedding websites are perfect for communicating with your guests and sharing the details of your wedding day and registry.
