Sarah Brayer and Nathan Pickler are the lucky winners of our Dream Weekend Getaway to Devil’s Thumb Ranch, an environmentally-friendly resort and spa in the Rocky Mountains. The prize includes: the couple’s airfare, car rental, lodging for three nights, spa treatments and more; all Sarah and Nathan have to do is focus on relaxing, reconnecting and reliving their wedding day!
We caught up with Sarah to get the details of their big day and to find out how they plan to use their weekend away.
Tell us a bit about your wedding. What was your wedding style and vision?
We are pretty laid back people and we really wanted the wedding to reflect us and be a great time for our guests. Our “destination wedding” would be back in Columbus, Ohio where we met at school, and we choose a great location with an outdoor patio next to a pond and an indoor room with simply decorated room with floor to ceiling windows and a wooden beam ceiling. Since its an outdoor summer wedding we chose bright and summery colors – orange and yellow with grey/silver. I choose a pretty traditional dress, but paired it with funky yellow wedges and a fun beaded headband. The girls would be in light orange flowy dresses and the guys would be in grey pants and a orange striped tie with the sleeves rolled. I took on a lot of the projects myself – invitations, personalized aisle runners, guest books, programs, fruit centerpieces, you name it – just to keep it personal. We have also included many fun aspects to the reception including, Mad Libs, trivia questions, thumb print tree guest book, and other surprises for our guests!
Now that you know that you’ve won, how do you think you’ll use the getaway? Will you use it as a honeymoon? Or squeeze in a trip before the wedding?
Since we are so close to the wedding, we don’t have much time to take the trip before. I think we are going to use it as another honeymoon, because two honeymoons are way better than one!
Why did you choose to use a mywedding.com website?
I had tried out many different websites, and mywedding.com had everything I really wanted. Better customization opportunities with many design choices, page customization, an easy RSVP system, and a blog where I had the opportunity to update friends and family spread across the country about our wedding planning.
What’s your favorite thing about mywedding.com?
One of my favorite things about mywedding.com is how easy it has made the planning process and being able to communicate with our guests about wedding activities and plans.
