Top 5 Cosmetics Trends for Fall 2012

Eyeshadow palette featuring an array of varying colors, including bright colors and neutrals.

The only thing better than buying new school supplies is buying new makeup, right? Here are the top 5 trends in cosmetics that we love for fall:

Deep Lips

Lipsticks are dramatic and vampy this season in shades of dark scarlet and rich berries. We all know how hard it is to find the perfect red lipstick, so here are a few of our suggestions for you to try: MAC’s Dubonnet and Dare You ,Lancome’s Rouge Resille ,and Clinique’s Angel Red (perfect for the super pale ladies). If you like the trend ,but don’t want to go too daring, try Clinique’s Black Honey, a classic sheer lipstick staple. And if you want to also go bold on your nails: Chanel’s Vertigo and Sonia Kashuk’s All Vamped Up are perfection!

Rosy Cheeks

Look like you just came in from the cold with rosy cheeks! (But go sparingly if you are pairing it with other statement trends) Some of our lovelies: Tarte’s Natural Beauty, or MAC’s Peachykeen.

La-La Lashes

Not all of us are coordinated enough for false eyelashes. Personally, whenever I try, I come out of the bathroom looking like Miss Hannigan from “Annie”. Not pretty. Instead, I load up on cool mascaras in deep black. I really love Mally’s Volumizing Mascara and Cover Girl’s Lash Blast Volume.

Ditch the Eyeshadow and Go Creamy!

Slightly shiny, glowy lids are all the rage this season. You can go super-duper pale for maximum impact or stay with a neutral tone that works well with your skin coloring. Think shimmer, not glitter. Bobbi Brown’s cream shadows are just plain awesome. I use Beach Honey, but other colors to try are Glacier and Ballet Pink.

Use Light Touches of Metallics

Don’t go nuts and go out looking like the Tin Man, but instead try a little gold eyeliner or better yet, choose some fun nail polish. Butter’s Shag and Estee Lauder’s Viper let you rock the jewel-tone craze with plenty of metallic sheen.
