Sidney Roland Eculla...his name may not be one of the famous designers in the Metro, but ever since I met him I had a feeling that we would cross paths & one day..
I was mulling over who I should get to design my gown (with a budget), until my little brother mentioned his name...and then it just dawned on me..why not?!
You see, Sid (as I call him) is actually an ex-Seminarian. He and my youngest brother used to be batch mates in a seminary in Silang, Cavite. Fast forward to the future, Sid graduated but God had other plans for him. I remember my brother telling me stories about how he would doodle gown designs in class during a long boring lecture..it was hilarious but when he showed his drawings, the seminarians would be amazed at his talent.
His 'call' to fashion designing came, when he was founded by Edgar Allan at his boutique in Glorietta, who saw his drawings and decided to hire him on the spot as his fashion designer/assistant.
Long story short..clients of Edgar Allan would go directly to Sidney to have their gowns and dresses designed.
After being under his tutelage for almost 2 years, he decided to put up his own 'shop'...and I'm glad he did, because everything fell in its place for him..and me. :D
On a personal note, I'm not very fond of having beads in my gown..I'd rather have texture, with a good cut and definitely style.
This was the very first design that Sidney made..after showing him some pics that I liked through the net.
He described it as classic almost victorian with an avant-garde twist..the elements he incorporated were the lace, with its almost high collar and the sexy back-less. LOVED the fact that he added Ostrich feathers...gotta say it again, Looooved it!
This was inspired by an Alvina Valenta gown, which had a halter floating lace patch design on tulle.
Fabric for this gown will be layers and layers of illusion tulle...giving it a billowy effect almost as if I would be floating on the aisle :D
Love this too!
(The back design is still amenable to changes though)
Another design Sid made to give the gown 2 looks with just a simple bolero made with lace, organza and ostrich feathers...same elements as the first gown, only difference would be the detachable bolero giving this a Spanish feel.
Love this three! :)
Now this was something similar to the Spanish bolero (bolero is also detachable) gown but at the same time very different.
Same elements used as the first and third gown...but unique in a way that its more...hmmm... 1920s bonggacious!
Definitely gives you the red-carpet feel..and whaddya know, I will be walking the red-carpet aisle! :D
Hayy, now I love all 4!!
