We're second generation hippies. We'd like the world to stick around after we're done with it. Please help us, and hug a tree while you're at it!
This a huge part of who are are, and we do believe every little bit helps.
We recycle almost fanatically. We re-use as much as we can, of as much as we have. We have picked through other people's garbage and have taken home printouts from work just so they would be recycled or composted. We think more people should do this, too.
We're trying to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible: generally, and specifically relating to the wedding. As such, our invitations will be a single card with no enclosures (and online RSVP!), out of recyclable (and recycled) materials. Nearly all of the planning is being done using public transport and paper-less means.
Our ceremony and reception will be at the same venue, a fairly obvious way to cut a significant drive. Our menu and flowers will be as local, seasonal and organic as possible-- we'll donate them after the day is over to a hospital or shelter. None of the serving kits (plates, etc) are disposable. At the reception, all our music will be played by live musicians on acoustic instruments-- romantic and electricity-free!
Our attendants will all choose clothing they'll actually wear again. Yes, this is a requirement. Our photographer will shoot completely digitally, with digital proofs and editing: that way, no harsh chemicals will be used, and no paper will be wasted-- in fact, the only paper that will be used at all will be the final prints!
After the event, we will put as much as we can afford into offsetting the remaining carbon emissions through TerraPass.

We're so glad you asked! Since chances are you'll be flying to join us, we ask that you offset your carbon emissions. The easiest place to do that is through TerraPass.
This is actually our first choice of wedding present (after just showing up). Please consider it.
There are many other things you can do (and should already be doing!)-- turning off (not just setting on stand-by) any appliances not in use, turning down your A/C in the Summer and turning down your heating in the Winter by just two degrees, and switching to cloth napkins instead of paper are just examples. Find out what your carbon footprint looks like and how to reduce it here.
Stay informed with interesting resources like this, build green, buy local, support your neighborhoods. Yes we can!
Did You Know? In 2005 alone, 50 million barrels of crude oil were expended in replacing plastic bottles across the nation. Recycle them and get yourself a decent water bottle.
