Ben and I officially met in 2007 through friends of ours who thought we might be a good match. We became instant buddies. Ben says I asked him out....I'm just not sure about all that. We hung out a few times. Chatted. Laughed a lot. Chatted more. Then we realized we liked each other....a lot.
We LOVED each other.
After 6 months of "intense speed dating" I packed all my things, got a hair cut, moved in with Ben, got two basset hounds (named Reggie and Deuce after the New Orleans Saints..for all of you Saints fans), and then we realized we needed to stop doing and just relax in our new life.
We have such a fun and blessed relationship. We laugh. cook. play. travel. help one another. but best of all we truly adore one another.
We truly are the best of friends. He is mine and I am his very best buddy. I truly believe we are soul mates....made specifically for each other in every sense.
I said "Of course!"
As a tradition Ben always makes me breakfast in bed for my birthday! So sweet, right?
This year my birthday was on a Friday and I had taken the day off and thought it was so sweet that he still wanted to wake up extra early and do this for me. When he brought the tray of food in to me it was an amazing display of yumminess. Heart shaped pancakes, fruit, and bacon. It was so good.
When I was done my plan was to roll over and go back to bed since I had the day off. Well that was about to change.....
Ben took my tray into the kitchen and came back into the room. He laid on the bed with me and just started staring at me. I looked over at him and then that's when he started talking about us and how he knows we are meant for one another and then....he pulled the RING out of his robe! He asked if I would make him the happiest man alive and marry him and I said "Of course!".
It was the best birthday of my life!
Ben then explained to me that he had also secretly taken the day off for my birthday! So we got a chance to celebrate with friends and family and run around all day as a newly engaged couple!
