February 20, 2007 was an ordinary Tuesday at the College of Wooster for Miranda. Miranda was off to lunch with two of her friends (Anne and Anlyn) when Anlyn accidentally locked her keys inside her dorm room. While awaiting the arrival of security to open the door to her room, Ben called Miranda's room to see what she was doing. Without Miranda's knowledge, Ben was actually in Wooster with several of his closest friends (Troy, Day, Pakla, Steve, Ryan, Jordan, and Ashley) from Denison University with plans to ask Miranda to marry him in the Lowry dining hall at Wooster. However, Miranda and her friends were unable to eat at the normal spot because they were waiting for security to arrive. Ben's friend Steve paid $9 to eat in Lowry and scouted the premises for Miranda's arrival. When Ben realized that Miranda wasn't going to be in Lowry, he quickly concocted "Plan B" and sent two of his Denison friends (Jordan and Ashley) to follow Miranda to her afternoon class. They followed Miranda to Wishart Hall where Miranda attended her Modern Dance class. The only problem was that they only knew which building Miranda had entered and did not know which classroom she was in. Ben and his friends searched each classroom and finally discovered where Miranda was. With cameras in hand, Ben and his crew entered the dance studio, Ben took off his shoes (as the sign on the door encourages all dancers to do before they walk on the floor), and bent down on one knee in front of the entire class during a dance routine. Miranda was elated and the professor, in tears, said a proposal during her class was definitely a first.
