Ben and I met at Indiana University. We were in our sophomore year, and a mutual friend invited me to a party at Ben's dorm. I didn't have anything better to do that night, so I checked it out. Ben and I hit it off from the very beginning. We even kissed that first night! We spent the next 4 days and nights getting to know each other, and we haven't been apart since.

Despite the extremely long amount of time that Ben and I have been dating, I was surprised when he proposed.

We had scheduled a date night for Tuesday, May 22nd at the Eagles Nest in Indianapolis. Everyone asks me why Tuesday - it seems like that's the only day that we were both free for the entire month. So we got all dressed up and headed downtown. Ben was dropping hints the whole night....if I wasn't so distracted by the gorgeous view (it was awesome to watch the city light up at sunset), I might have had a clue! After dinner, we ordered tiramisu and coffee. Before the waitress brought the dessert, Ben walked around to my side of the table, dropped to one knee, and asked me to marry him! I was stunned. And oh so excited! So excited that I couldn't eat the dessert or drink the coffee - which those who love me know is unusual. The waitress had known all along, and so had my parents. Ben had planned everything out, from asking my parents for my hand (and the family rock to decorate it) to calling the restaurant to arrange a secluded table and champagne. It was perfect.
