The invitations have been sent out, and the response cards are coming back!
This is really the exciting part for me; to see who will be supporting us both on this momentous occasion. It's like getting Christmas cards every day in the mail!
I just got together our song list to be played/performed with our orchestra and emailed that off to Stu Hirsh today, so hopefully we'll be able to tighten things up.
I also spoke with Jennifer Silk, one of the most talented strings player in Chicago, and so incredibly intelligent and helpful in offering suggestions on classical pieces to be played during the ceremony, processional and recessional. It's really going to be a beautiful ceremony.
A few things left to accomplish: One is ordering the favors for our guests, Bill and I have an engagement photo shoot with the amazingly talented Angela Swan (www.angelaswan.com) on Wednesday, ironing out the details with our officiant for the ceremony, and rehearsal dinner, and basically, just the seating arrangements and such. It's tough because everything revolves around the guest list; so a word to the wise: if you receive a wedding invitation in the mail that requests a response, the earlier you get it back to them, the better! It makes the planning process so much easier when you know how many people to expect.
I also got to connect with my Aunt Voula (my father's sister) and we talked about the sweet table that one of her close friends will be doing for us. I cannot express to you how amazing that will be. Homemade Greek desserts are decadent and insanely tasty. YUM YUM!
We also headed over to Eva's in Oak Lawn to pick up my Mother's dress, designed by Stephen Yearick who is one of the most talented designers in Evening wear and Bridal. Bill and I actually had the pleasure of meeting Leigh Price, designer for Stephen Yearick back in January of this year when he was one of our guest speakers showcasing his latest collection at one of our Bridal Shows. Such a great guy and amazing eye for beauty and talent. Anyway, the dress could not have turned out more perfectly. THANK YOU RONIA AND NANCY!!! You two have been amazing throughout the entire process.
Also had the tasting for our final menu selections, and let me tell you- no one will go home hungry, I can promise you that! The food was fantastic, and I think everyone will really enjoy it.
That's all the updates for now. I will fill you all in on more news later in the week!
