  • 2 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crusts

Alternatives to a Traditional Wedding Cake

Are five tiers of vanilla buttercream just not for you? There are plenty of other unforgettable dessert options to consider.

What’s your favorite dessert?

Do you and your honey love banana pudding? Chocolate eclairs? Churros with dipping sauce? You could serve any one of these at your event. To increase their visual appeal, have the caterer serve them in cute individual containers.

Everyone loves a buffet.

A table filled with sweet treats will make guests of any age happy. You can vary the items, or stick with a theme. Suggestions for sweet tables: nostalgic candy, pastries, donuts, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and chocolates. You can create themes with colors, flavors, or shapes.

Go seasonal.

Sweet Strawberry Dessert Table from Host-It Notes

I have a new rule: No editing Erin’s sweet table posts before lunch. Doesn’t this look so amazingly delicious? As summer is winding down, berries are the perfect inspiration for a dessert table.  The combo of cakes, cookies, and Italian sodas makes for a very fun bridal shower or small reception idea (and her use of a red clover plant keeps the decorations simple, but interesting).  But I do warn you, unless you want to have a giant scone for lunch, read this after you have had a sandwich. Seriously.

Dessert tables capture all the most delicious parts of a party—pretty treats, flowers, decor, and skipping straight to dessert.  That’s why they are perfect for a bridal shower. Everything…

Friday Chocolate Break!

Can we keep it real? It is Friday and all I want is a salted chocolate-covered caramel. I noticed that Fran’s now sells wedding favors, and you should totally check them out. But really, get something for you. Really. It will make all the details you have to finish before your wedding so much more enjoyable.

Normally I am not a fan of fruit + chocolate. It seems to defy the laws of nature. But I tell you, their chocolate covered apricots are out.of.this.world.

Ice cream and caramel sauce. The perfect Friday night treat. What if you don’t have ice cream? Well, then you have to shamefully eat the sauce straight out of the jar, right?

Foodie Favors: Whimsy & Spice

Whimsy & Spice lives up to its name. Based out of Brooklyn, NY, and run by husband and wife team, Mark Sopchak (pastry chef extraordinaire) and Jenna Park (marketer, packaging and website designer, and fab photographer), each batch of deliciousness is sure to be fun and flavorful. And, what could be better for a wedding favor? Their cookies, marshmallows and brownies can be beautifully packaged into super special wedding favors and you can choose labels and ribbon color to customize each perfect package.

Some personal favorites are their sandwich cookies which come in flavors such as Earl Grey, Hazelnut Whisky, Massaman Peanut Butter, and Pink Peppercorn. Chocolate Gingersnaps and Rose & Black Pepper Thumbprints are wonderful. Although, their Coconut Five Spice White Chocolate wins my heart every…

Bobbette & Belle

Did you gasp like I did upon first laying eyes on the photo above? If the budget allowed, I swear I’d have a different wedding cake for each attending guest just to appease my irrational love of all things cake. And, as is evidenced here, Bobbette & Belle ain’t helping me in that department. You know what I mean? How does one possibly decide upon only one type of incredibly crafted cake?!

The glorious pastry wonders you see before you are from the minds, hands, and ovens of Allyson Bobbitt and Sarah Bell, the founders of one of Toronto’s top destination wedding bakeries. I’d gladly seek their counsel in making a cake decision even if it had me bouncing all the way home…

Favorite Sack Lunch Treats Sweet Table

Looking for a sweet table that’s nostalgic without being too complicated? Go for gourmet versions of your favorite childhood treats! Admittedly, this was a really dangerous search on Pinterest (seriously, I would pretty much sign away my firstborn for an oatmeal creme pie right now), but who doesn’t love these desserts? Instead of pudding cups, serve individual banana puddings. Make your own Hostess cupcakes. Give those Rice Krispies Treats their own little paper wrapper (also an excellent parting favor). And yes, bake oatmeal creme pies. Definitely make those. Right. Now.

Much Respect to:

Banana pudding

Chocolate cupcake

Oatmeal creme pies

Edible Embellishments from Andie’s Specialty Sweets

Weddings are certainly sweet enough as they are, but coming across the edible embellishments from Andie’s Specialty Sweets had me riding a gleeful sugar high with all the adornment options they have available! From “Mr. Darcy” and “Ms. Lizzy” lollipops to chocolate filled candy seashells, candy buttons to beach glass, Andie and Jason will have your head swimming with all the possible ways to sweeten up your wedding.

It goes without saying that all of these sea-inspired goodies are perfect accoutrements for a beach-themed wedding. Aren’t the seashells amazing?!

What could be more sweetly vintage than candy buttons to adorn a cake or serve as super cute favors? I mean, seriously, how adorable is that cake?!

Nothing would pay better tribute to…
