This morning I’ve been, well, swooning over the perfectly pretty pieces from Petal and Print. Offering any number of custom fabric floral creations, Katie will hand-dye, cut, and create bridal bouquets, cake toppers, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces, headbands, hair clips, etc. Just imagine all of the possibilities for adding an oh-so-charming touch to your wedding theme!
Dashing, elegant, playful. We’re talking top hats here and they’re not just for the gentlemen anymore!
The beauty of the modern wedding is that it’s all about the couple and their own personal style. And, since not every bride is a ‘veil’ or ‘tiara’ bride, options abound when considering one’s wedding day crowning touch. Here are a few of the fanciful bridal top hat finds to had over on Etsy.
Gold Mad Hatter Top Hat from Two Back Flats.
Victorian Bridal Top Hat with Bird from Topsy Turvy Design.
Black Veiled Mini Top Hat with Ostrich Feathers from Orphelia.
Wedding Day Mini Top Hat from Boring Sidney.
Steampunk Pink Mini Top Hat with Crystal Centerpiece from La Coco Rouge.
Let’s face it, ever since the royal wedding of Kate & William, we’ve become a lot more fascinated by fascinators. (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.) And, why wouldn’t we? There’s just something a bit more stylishly snappy about them, don’t you think? Coming across the Holiday 2011 Collection from Preston & Olivia had me smitten from the start!
Not only are these pieces fun and festive, but they’re so versatile. These could make for some seriously fetching bridesmaids accessories as well as something to wow the crowd at your bridal shower, engagement party, or swanky bachelorette soiree. Not to mention upcoming holiday parties! Hey, maybe even doing the dishes could become a little more celebratory? You never know. It could happen.
I’m not going to lie to you, I love myself a girly ruffle. And it seems to me that there is no better time for pulling out the pretty than right around your wedding. Whether you’re adding a ruffled necklace to your shower outfit, decking your bridesmaids out in these killer peony dresses from Quail Bridal or adding a ruffle-y heel to your wedding dress, it’s a feminine way to let the world know here comes the bride.

Generally recognized as a symbol of good luck, many brides are integrating feathers into their weddings. If you like this idea, add small touches to avoid looking like a Mardi Gras gone awry. The only exception is, of course, if you are actually having a Mardi Gras themed reception (as shown in the feather centerpieces above).
Especially if you are sticking to a white or pale color palette, small feathers can add interesting texture to bouquets. If you are going with bolder colors, such as red or black, incorporate them into hair accessories or shoes.

Kris and Kristen’s wedding is another one of those weddings that is jam-packed with details; there’s the cupcake bar, the hilarious napkins, the beer kozy favors, the out-of-this-world centerpieces…
I have to say though, what really made me fall in love with this wedding were the bride and groom photos. Adding a Vespa, some balloons, a very cool sign, and, at one point, a couple of musicians, Alea Moore’s shots are little bit quirky, totally pretty and capture a couple that looks like they have a great time together.
Make sure to keep reading to hear Kristen’s advice to brides just getting started.
Kristen’s Thoughts:
The most meaningful part of our wedding day was our first dance. My husband is a huge Metallica fan and really wanted our first dance to be to the song “Nothing Else Matters.” We found an instrumental version by Apacalytica and performed…
Remember awhile back when BLHDN, Anthropologie’s wedding line, launched and there was a collective squeal from the bridal community? Well, their newest collection is out and excellent blogger that I am I took a look for all of you. And then another look. And another. And, well, let’s just say that not much else has gotten done this morning as I have yet to come up for air.
Suffice to say, it is just as gorgeous and creative as their first collection. The soft, layered dresses, the elegant veils, the crowns. Oh my, the crowns! I am, as they say, in full-on swoon mode over here so I’ll stop talking so you can start looking. Please, tell me you love them as much as I do!
