I love cards. I love sending them. I love receiving them. All around, they make me happy. But in this email/Facebook/texting world, how often are we tossing one in the mailbox? I don’t know about you, but I need to do this more. And these sweet cards by Moglea are just the ticket to inspire me!
What is the talk about going “green” when it comes to thank you cards? I just did thank you cards for my engagement party and it feels like a big waste of paper to do what a lovely email would also accomplish. Thoughts?

Dear Miss Schwalb,While I appreciate your eco-conscious thinking, nothing compares to a handwritten thank you note. It may seem like this formality doesn’t matter in our era of digital convenience, but it most certainly does.
There are plenty of sustainable alternatives to show your guests you truly care about them as well as the environment. Some suggestions are:
- using recycled paper for printing
- adding a
On a mission to turn the “modern man into a gentleman”, the guys behind Forgetful Gentlemen cards have dissected the obstacles that keep men from writing cards and obliterated them one-by-one. Between their email reminder service, their “Guide to Articulate Writing” and the postage they actually put on the envelope for you, they have literally taken away any possible (or shall we say plausible) excuses that prevent your guy from getting his thank you notes done.
And, they are very, well, manly. Letterpressed with a simple image, they are clean, sophisticated, and look like they’re from the desk of a man who knows something about the finer things in life (and who doesn’t want to Don Draper it up…
Picking out your wedding invitations is a big deal. With only a few small pieces of paper you’re meant to convey a ton of information, heed etiquette guidelines while somehow conveying the overall tone of your wedding through creative means. No pressure at all, right?!?
Which is why I love Chewing the Cud’s line of letterpress invitations. Their designs are charming yet cleanly designed so they’re easy-to-read and never feel overwhelming. And it really is all about the details with these invites. The place where guests can circle the “correct answer” on the version that looks like a school note; the letterpress diamond detailing on the silhouette of kids riding their bike together; the RSVP that looks like a stamp on…
Since I am the most internet and design-savvy person in my family, it came upon ME to design and order my sister’s wedding announcements. This past Fourth of July my sister and her husband were wed in a really tiny, intimate ceremony. In fact, they just planned a Fourth of July barbecue, invited immediate family only, and then had their wedding ceremony at sunset.
So, on the front of the wedding announcement I included the usual … “[My parents] wish to announce the marriage of their daughter …” etc, but one the back of the announcement, I wanted to feature a cute photo that I took of them with their festive sparklers and a cute little saying like, “We…
Earlier this week we highlighted a very cool, non-traditional way to help people remember your wedding date. Today’s find has a more traditional bent – paper wedding invitation suites – yet is no less original. Wiley Valentine’s line of invites are deceptively simple – they have a clean, fresh look that translates to totally modern.
Started by two friends who decided to name their company after their grandmothers (so fabulous!), all of their invitations are printed on 100% recycled paper and can be customized with font and color choices. And this doesn’t even touch on their full line of letterpress invites, which are – you guessed it – modern, elegant and gorgeous!
How do u thank someone for a cash gift in a thank you card, without being out right? -Ana Vantrece
Dear Miss Vantrece,
A proper thank you note should state the gift which you are thanking the person for. Remember cash is king and should be acknowledged as such in your note. Consider a line such as, “We appreciate your gracious gift, the cash will come in very handy.”
And don’t worry. It is not offensive to say the word cash.
If you decide not to have alcohol as part of your wedding but do have it available for guests to purchase from the venue, how do you tell your guest ahead of time?
Ah, thank you notes. You get home from the wedding and honeymoon all blissed out (no more seating charts!) to the reality of writing stacks and stacks of thank yous. It’s one of those important little add-ons that can add up money- and time-wise.
Which is why I’m so pleased that one of my favorite bloggers, Melissa Esplin, has decided to help us all out. Melissa writes the mind-blowing crafty blog IS•LY that is chock-full of DIY projects, free templates and more giveaways than you can shake a stick at.
And, she’s created a thank you card template especially for Delightfully Engaged readers! It’s super-easy to use. All you need to do is download…
I think we can all agree that there is absolutely nothing better than finding excuses to show people your engagement and wedding photos (“You like cake? That’s so funny because I served cake at my wedding! Maybe you’d like to see the photos?”). Fortunately, the holidays are just around the corner, which means, of course, photo holiday cards!

Remember being a kid and sticking to the rule that red was for girls and blue was for boys? Well, that must explain why together they make such a harmonious pair when used as a wedding color theme.
Raspberry and teal (that’s what we adults call red and blue) complement each other so beautifully; they’re an inviting choice for late summer weddings.
