There are lots of things to love about Jennifer and Stefano’s engagement session by Photography by Verdi – the location is creative and interesting, taking place at an old Ghost Town called Goldfield, which also happens to feature stunning backdrops; their wedding sounds like a blast – Stefano is Italian so they’ll be taking the whole gang over to Italy for the Big Day; and their looks match the location perfectly – dressy with a nod to Western, but not over-the-top.
But what I love most about their shoot is their genuine affection for each other. When you look back over your engagement photos you want to see the love, and, dear readers, can’t you just see it? They look completely relaxed with each other, whether they’re laughing, posing on a roadside sign or looking deep into each others’ eyes (which I know from experience is…
There are some weddings where one element stands out and seems to speak for the entire wedding; in the case of Nikki and John’s wedding, it has to be her veil. Photographed beautifully by Shy Laurel Photography, Nikki’s veil is elegant (and beautiful) yet captures the playful spirit of the couple and their setting – a ranch with a stunning backdrop in the heart of Texas.
I love that Nicki gave a nod to her adopted home state without going too over-the-top. The couple gave Texas cookie favors and display some killer cowboy boot signs, but the details never undermine the elegance of the event. It’s really so beautiful!
As always, be sure to keep reading after the photos for lots of behind-the-scenes thoughts from Nikki about her wedding day.

Did your wedding location hold a specific significance to you?
The wedding ceremony and reception were…
Well, the sun is out here in San Francisco (not an everyday occurrence so it suddenly feels like Spring is in the air!) and, boy, do I have a bright and cheerful session for you to end the week on! Dustin and Katie got hitched at the gorgeous LDS temple in Newport Beach, CA where the sun was shining and you can practically hear the birds chirping.
Photographed beautifully by Lori Anderson Photographers, the couple looks equally at home on the well-landscaped grounds of the temple as they do at a local hang out that features urban art – happy and in love!
Lori offers some great advice to couples who are trying to balance capturing all of the photos they want with actual time at the event. She said: After shooting their wedding, one thing that really stood out in our mind is that’s is so important…
I’ve been eager to feature today’s wedding for quite some time now. After reading the story of “how they met”…I knew the wedding story would be divine, and I couldn’t have been more accurate. So take a seat, grab an iPad2 to take style notes, and feast your eyes on a lovely match made in Canada.
Setting: Ontario, Canada

SCENE #1: LADY & THE BLUE JAY

Megan and Chris’ wedding can be encapsulated in just two words – Party. Bus. And maybe sunglasses. All right, throw in flamingos too. Let’s just say, their wedding (captured beautifully by Aregrayline Photography) looks like the ultimate beach holiday with friends and family. They have the white sandy beaches, the palm trees and tropical marine life, and, of course, the ultimate party bus.
And while they perfectly captured the beach wedding elements, their wedding also has an true elegance. The church where they were married is absolutely stunning, the attire beach classic, and the details Megan added, like the bridesmaid’s parasols, give it a splash of color without being over-the-top. Basically, it’s Aruba meets a very fun, tasteful couple.
Megan gives us all sorts of details on what it’s like planning a destination wedding below – her story about their wedding ceremony and their priest is priceless!

Is it just me or do wedding videos have a way of making you tear up? Every time I watch Michelle and Charles’ wedding video by IQ Videography, it gets me all misty-eyed. It’s all of the real emotion – the laughter! the tears! the love! – that’s packed into this one day that you can’t help but get swept up in it.
And, Michelle and Charles’ wedding day is absolutely lovely. Once Charles is allowed in the house (he has to pass the bridesmaids’ stringent tests, which include singing a rendition of “I Will Always Love You” in front of the whole family), they start their wedding celebrations with a traditional Vietnamese ceremony. Michelle looks stunning in her Ao Dai (Vietnamese dress) and the tea ceremony is filled with such emotion and love.
Then they move onto a Presbyterian church in Sausalito, California for a Western-style ceremony.…
Sometimes it’s nice to see an engagement shoot that is nothing but the couple – no props, just a beautiful setting and, okay, some serious heat. Shot beautifully by Chi Photography, the lush backdrop of Charleston, South Carolina is all that’s needed to capture photos that are elegant, understated and very loving.
And, I love that Kyle is sporting one our favorite trends for this season – the preppy tie and sweater. Well done, sir!

What do you get when you pair Haitian heritage, Filipino charm, soul food and a historic Victorian estate? A whole lot of “slap-me-that’s-so-pretty” outbursts. Today’s real wedding inspiration was captured by Samantha Shay Photography, and I’m honored to share it with you.
SCENE #1 – THE BRIDAL CHAMBER
Rachel, a Spelman College Alum of Haitian roots, and Tony, an Oral Roberts University Alum of Filipino-Haitian roots, chose June as their month to say “I Do” in style. By style, I mean gorgeous hair, classic make up, and custom made gifts made of ivory and blue freshwater pearls (lucky bridesmaids!).
SCENE #2 - A SOULFUL CEREMONY
Veering away from whimsical or nondenominational settings like Central Park or the Empire State Building, Rachel and Tony stayed true to their beliefs by holding their ceremony at the historic Bethany Baptist church in Brooklyn. The tune of gospel and romance echoed…
We’ve all witnessed Anne of the City Sage’s impeccable taste over on her blog and in her guest posts for us, but to see it play out in real life, in her wedding no less, is really quite special. Because she does have great taste – the muted palette she chose that pops with purple every now and again, the tight bunches of elegant flowers, her stunning veil, they all lend an air of nostalgic elegance to her day.
And her photos really do look timeless, don’t they? I feel like years from now people will look at these photos and think, “Man, I wish we knew how to dress like that still.”
Huge thanks to Anne and her photographer Anna Kilbridge for sharing the photos. Be sure to keep reading below to hear Anne’s thoughts on the day.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story:
Well, we tell it differently, so here is mine and his:
Leslie:
It all began when our mutual costume designer friend, Julie Weiss, insisted that I meet “the greatest guy” named Sim. Having a horrible track record with blind dates, I politely declined. Julie, being as persistent as she is, gave Sim my number anyway. He called and amazingly, we had a lot in common and he sounded like a non-psychopath. So it was on, I had a blind date! That was it, I was hooked. It wasn’t long before we were spending lots of time together at the movies, batting cages, and lots of dinners. Sim made his intentions clear to everyone at my brother John’s wedding when he did a Michael Jordan worthy leap to catch the garter belt, after I had caught the bouquet. It…
