Real Wedding Re-Run: Jordan and Heather Marry Deep in the Heart of Huasna, CA

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story:
We met in the ninth grade (Jordan was 15 and Heather was 14). We didn’t take much notice of one another until a year later; we each started to appreciate the other while going out with friends or planning school activities. Then one day at age 16, while trying to think of a Homecoming dance date, Heather thought about asking Jordan and butterflies flew in her stomach. She’s been in love ever since. It only took two weeks for Jordan to ask Heather out on a date, Halloween six years ago this October. Only two months later Jordan was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and…

A Classic Museum Wedding by Justin DeMutlis Photography

What a pretty wedding we have for you today! Carissa and Patrick were married at the Ringling Museum, and let’s just say, there was nary a clown car in site. Rather it was an event that lived up to the grandness and elegance of the venue (captured beautifully by Justin DeMutlis Photography), but with the intimacy of a couple who was really enjoying their day.

And the classic detailing! From Patrick’s tux, to the ruffles on Carissa’s train (perfect for dancing), to the simple elegance of their cake, each element matched the grandeur of the space. It looks like it was a truly gorgeous day.

Carissa and Patrick were kind enough to send over a ton of details about…

Get Married Outside! Our Favorite Outdoor Venues

Maybe it’s because it’s been raining here for the past few days, but all I can think about is going outdoors and enjoying the sun. And there is no better time to head outside and let Mother Nature work her magic than on your wedding day.

I’ve put together a few of my favorite outdoor wedding venues, but I’m sure I’ve missed a bunch! Let me know what I missed or if you’re planning an outdoor wedding in the comments section.

Beach: Of course, at the top of our list has to be beach weddings (okay, maybe I’m a teensy bit partial because that’s where I got hitched). There is something so romantic about waves crashing onto a sandy beach…

Rachel and Darren’s Romantic DIY Wedding by Maggie Heinzel-Neel

For her wedding to long-time love Darren, Rachel wanted a Garden-esque theme that felt romantic and, I gotta say mission accomplished. Her soft palette of pinks and oranges, to her dress (her dress!), to the smart suits the guys sported, to the DIY décor she and her friends put together, it all feels very 30s yet totally modern.

Captured gorgeously by Maggie Heinzel-Neel, this is one of those weddings where I kept going back to the photos to catch more details (and fine, because I couldn’t get enough of her dress). Make sure you check out their photo gallery for lots more shots and ideas.

And keep reading below – Rachel has great advice for brides…

Inspiration Board: Dress to Reception Décor

We’ve all heard the advice: tailor your choice in wedding gown to the type of event you’re having. But why not switch it up and take inspiration from your bridal fashion when planning reception details? A sweet, simple strapless number sets the mood perfectly for a rustic twilight dinner lit by Edison bulbs.

The unabashedly girly bodice on this dress begs for similarly playful decor. A muted, natural palette lets the whimsical sensibility shine through, and a butterfly’s wings even reflect the pleated collar of the gown.

Long sleeves, antiqued lace, and a flower circlet: this look reminds me of my mother’s 70′s style in the best possible way. A mix of dried and live flowers in mountain meadow hues…
