Help Support Japan’s Disaster Relief with For Japan With Love

for-japan-with-loveI know we’ve all seen the footage from Japan of not only  the devastation but also all of the people who have been displaced by the earthquake and tsunami. And, it’s been cold over there. One report I read said it’s been -6 degrees, although it feels like more like -13, which is potentially disastrous for those living in shelters or without electricity.

So, I was so glad to read about Utterly Engaged’s partnership with Ever Ours to create a tangible way to help. For the rest of the month, they’re helping the non-profit ShelterBox collect donations for their disaster relief kits (each one contains things like a relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment and stove). And they’ve put the word out the wedding community to help send as many kits as possible.

As well, in memory of those lost in Japan and to help raise awareness we’ll be joining in the Bloggers’ Day of Silence, which means we won’t be posting tomorrow. Instead, lovely readers, we ask that you (if you’re able to) join us and donate what you can and/or pass the word along.

You can find more details and grab a badge for your site or Facebook over on Utterly Engaged.

Updated: Because of the Day of Silence, For Japan with Love was able to raise $50,000 to send 50 ShelterBoxes help 500 people in Japan and other disaster areas. And, if you didn’t have a chance to donate yet never fear – the project will be raising funds until March 31.

  1. My heart is heavy with worry about Japan. Everyone should help in whatever way they can.

  2. I really hope this doesn’t come across as spam, but at my work we made some “Lend Japan a Hand” shirts for people doing fundraising for relief efforts. If you think they’d be of any help for your fundraising outside of the bloggers day of silence, please take a peek. There’s a picture posted on our blog (http://www.grscreenprinting.com/blog). Thanks for being a voice in helping such an urgent cause!
