Am I required to let anyone I invite to the wedding bring a date?–Tifanie, Boston, MA

In a perfect world, wedding budgets would be limitless and everyone could bring a date.  However, all too often guest lists need trimming.  You must invite the spouses, live-in partners, and fiancés of your guests.  Although it is not required, it is nice to also invite both members of any long-term couple who aren’t living together.  Other than those situations, it is acceptable to just send a single invite.
