I recently saw this wedding by Miller + Miller Photography and immediately knew we had to feature it! Don’t get me wrong, the modern and non-traditional weddings are also gorgeous and fun, but there is just something so classic about a traditional church wedding with lots of elegant details. Check out the rest below and read Blanca’s perspective on planning this beautiful event.

How did you know your partner was “the one”?
I knew Vic was the one, when I could not imagine my life without him. Not only is he the love of my life but he is my best friend.
Did your wedding location hold a specific significance to you?
Our wedding took place at St. Mary of the Angels, Vic and I had been attending mass there together for some time, and it meant a lot to be able to be married there. Ever since I was a little girl I imagined my wedding in a church, and to have had my wedding in a church as beautiful as St. Mary of the Angels was a dream come true.
Any special details?
One of the things that I spend a lot of time on was on the design of my cake. I always had in mind what I wanted so I actually supplied my own sugar flowers and spent time air brushing a few to get the tones I wanted. The baker and I spent a good amount of time discussing the design and they did a wonderful job executing my vision.
What was the most meaningful part of your day?
The most meaningful part of the day for me was the ceremony. Taking our marriage vows in God’s house in front of our closest friends and family was very special for me.
Tell us details about your wedding day.
We had a traditional Catholic wedding, we incorporated some Mexican customs which included the lasso and the arras (gold coins). The lasso is a large loop or rosary that is placed around the necks of the couple in an eight figure shape as a symbol of unity and love that will bound the couple in marriage for the rest of their lives. The arras are 13 gold coins (the 13 represent Jesus and the 12 apostles) that the groom gives to the bride as a symbol of his trust and as a pledge that he will be able to provide for her. Her acceptance means that she will take that trust unconditionally with dedication and prudence, for she has now been given control over his money.
Any advice you’d give new brides who are just getting started?
The best advice I can give is to not sweat the small stuff. There is so much stress that goes with planning a wedding that obsessing over every detail can only add to it. Remember to enjoy yourself and be patient, VERY patient.
