Whimsy & Spice lives up to its name. Based out of Brooklyn, NY, and run by husband and wife team, Mark Sopchak (pastry chef extraordinaire) and Jenna Park (marketer, packaging and website designer, and fab photographer), each batch of deliciousness is sure to be fun and flavorful. And, what could be better for a wedding favor? Their cookies, marshmallows and brownies can be beautifully packaged into super special wedding favors and you can choose labels and ribbon color to customize each perfect package.
Some personal favorites are their sandwich cookies which come in flavors such as Earl Grey, Hazelnut Whisky, Massaman Peanut Butter, and Pink Peppercorn. Chocolate Gingersnaps and Rose & Black Pepper Thumbprints are wonderful. Although, their Coconut Five Spice White Chocolate wins my heart every time. But, then there are the shortbread varieties. Oh! The shortbread! And, come on, homemade marshmallows?! Caramel, Cardamom, Passion Fruit, Rose Vanilla? Somebody stop me! But, nothing should stop you from seriously considering these tasty treats for your guests. You can thank me later.

Did you gasp like I did upon first laying eyes on the photo above? If the budget allowed, I swear I’d have a different wedding cake for each attending guest just to appease my irrational love of all things cake. And, as is evidenced here, Bobbette & Belle ain’t helping me in that department. You know what I mean? How does one possibly decide upon only one type of incredibly crafted cake?!
The glorious pastry wonders you see before you are from the minds, hands, and ovens of Allyson Bobbitt and Sarah Bell, the founders of one of Toronto’s top destination wedding bakeries. I’d gladly seek their counsel in making a cake decision even if it had me bouncing all the way home somewhere between sugar high and cake drunk – because I’m going to have to try a lot of cake. And, don’t even get me started on the indecision that would be invoked over the different wedding favors they make: French Macarons, monogram cookies, floral cookies, cupcakes, and adorable mini cakes. But, hey, indecisiveness never tasted – or looked – so good!

Loving their “Luxury Mini Cakes“! How adorable are they? Very!

For a holiday wedding, we love the idea of giving guests a stack of gingerbread. If you have a special family recipe you can include that as well!

You will need:
-Gingerbread cookies (If you don’t have time for homemade, Anna’s gingersnaps are authentic and delicious).
-Fabric
-Greens
-Twine
-Scissors
Steps:
1. Stack the gingersnaps in piles of 4-5.
2. Cut a piece of fabric about 4 inches x 4 inches. When you cut the fabric, cut about an inch and then tear the rest; this gives the fabric a beautiful, raw and rustic edge.
3. Tie with twine and greens!
Tip:
Prepare 1-2 days ahead of time.
There’s no doubt about it that we love a gorgeous wedding cake. Having said that, cookie buffets have a definite place in our heart, whether you do one as a late snack or an after dinner dessert bar (heck, anything with sugar can find room in our hearts). There’s just something so cozy about offering your guests milk and cookies, don’t you think?
(And, yes, you may have seen this inspiration board before! We’re re-running a few of our faves while we sip hot cocoa and gear up for engagement season.)

Whenever I begin planning a party, the first thing I do after brainstorming a theme is take an inventory of my house. What serveware and utensils are a good fit for this theme and color scheme? What decorative items can I repurpose for my table? What pieces can I paint or cover to give them the look I want? You’d be surprised where you find things if you just look—baskets tucked away in cupboards can hold favors, pretty storage boxes can be stacked to make pedestals, that mirror in the hall might look great behind your party’s buffet table. If you shop in your own home first, you’ll not only save a mint, you’ll get a look that’s more unique than picking up a matching set of party supplies at a store.
That’s why I love the key theme of today’s party shoot: books. I have loads of books in my home—books I treasure, books I’m done reading, books I haven’t gotten around to cracking open. For today’s party I gave those books a new life for a day as decorations in a book-themed bridal shower or engagement party. There are two kinds of book makeovers shown here: papered and painted. For books you love and want to keep in their original condition, buy Kraft paper in a few different colors and wrap up a few stacks of books to display on your table. I used painter’s tape to help keep the edges in place and hidden without damaging the books. Remove dust jackets before wrapping. If you have books that you don’t intend to keep, grab some acrylic paint in your color scheme and paint directly on the book’s exterior. This is a great opportunity to get creative with stamps, embossing or stencils. These beautiful books will be just as readable when you’re done.
For this look, I also used a paper punch to cut heart shapes in both Kraft paper and book pages. I used my sewing machine to stitch the hearts into draping garlands for a backdrop. To top things off I added in a few complementing serving pieces and my aqua Ball jars as vases. Want to take the book theme further? Have guests write words of wisdom in your Book of Love, line the envelopes of your invitations with book pages, or display book excerpts or lines of poetry in matching frames around the room.
