I love these Spring days with warm sun pouring through the windows, birds chirping, thoughts of easy, breezy days, and, of course, wedding season. It’s the beginning of a time so romantic and wistful. That’s precisely why San Francisco-based, Cherries Flowers, had me from the get go with their enchanting and artistic floral designs. At once refined and unaffected, their designs have an elegant yet sweetly approachable quality. One look through their portfolios and you’ll see that they’re not afraid of a little whimsy either. And, that combination is just the ticket for my kind of wedding.

Courtney Khail Handmade Stationery

With all of the creative elements that go into planning a wedding, it’s no surprise the number of wedding-related businesses that are born from brides themselves. Courtney Khail is one of those former brides who, when planning her own wedding in 2008, couldn’t find stationery that had that handmade, fine art feeling. So, being an artist herself, she put ink (and watercolor) to paper designing her own wedding stationery and Courtney Khail Stationery & Design was born!

Whether choosing a style from her gallery or having Courtney create a custom design, each piece is hand cut and hand painted onto 100% rag cotton paper and comes with a matching recycled paper envelope. There are a multitude of gorgeous design offerings inspired by her love of nature: peonies, lilacs, blackberries, rose, evergreen, leaves, etc. And, since each of these beautiful images is done by hand no two are ever alike. Thus, each Save the Date and wedding invitation will be as unique and special as the wedding to come.

There are lots of accessories that a bride considers as part of her overall wedding day look. Maggie Austin Cakes

When it comes to planning out the details of a wedding the two things I’d be likely to focus on would be the food and the cake. (My guests would eat well!) I know there are a lot of dessert and sweet table trends but, regardless of what variety of sweets I might consider, a wedding cake would still hold court for me. The harder part would be deciding which kind. This would especially ring true if I had to pick from all of the gloriously beautiful options created by Maggie Austin.

Each cake is individually tailored by this amazing Washington D.C.-based pastry artisan and what an artist Maggie is! From an elegantly spare but anything-but-traditional asymmetrical white 2-tier design to an elaborate Tiffany stained glass-inspired floral beauty, the former ballet dancer seems to have no limit in her ability to create one breathtaking couture cake after another. Truly a feast for all the senses!
