Don’t let Roxanne and George fool you. Sure, their ceremony is glamorous and sophisticated and formal. But as you can see, these two know how to get down on the dance floor! The reception is not only dripping with gorgeous flowers, but also with lots of fun! Thanks to Sloan Photographers for sharing this picture-perfect event!

Did your wedding location hold a specific significance to you?

We live in LA and had 2 days of events with family prior to the wedding, so we thought it would be nice to pick a location slightly outside of LA where our family and friends could take a little mini holiday, especially since it was during a 3-day weekend (4th of July weekend).  Plus, since George grew up in Singapore, we had lots of family coming from all around the world so it was lovely having everyone stay in the resort together, I think there were almost 100 guests from our wedding staying at the hotel, it was lovely running into everyone the whole weekend.

What was the most meaningful part of your day?

The whole day was spectacular.  We were both in such a surreal, blissful place while taking couples photos, during our Ketubbah signing, ceremony, and reception.  I don’t know how we had so much energy to keep going but it was just such an adrenaline rush and every minute was so amazing.  I think one of the most special parts of the day was after the Ketubbah signing, before the ceremony, George and I went back to the room, just the two of us, and just relaxed together for half an hour and took it all in, before the actual wedding even began!  We practiced some of our dance moves, just talked and laughed.  It was so sweet.

Did anything funny or out of the ordinary happen?

One really great, unique part was that my dad and 2 brothers joined the band to perform our first dance song for us!  My dad sang and my brothers played piano and guitar, they played “Dance Me to the End of Love” by Leonard Cohen, which I have always fantasized about dancing my first dance to.  I immediately started crying, it was such a wonderful surprise!  Also, my brother Jason sang “The Way You Look Tonight” for my father-daughter dance, and George sang “In A Little While” by U2, which was totally spontaneous and romantic.  AND during “Can’t Take My Eyes off of You,” George and I went on stage with the band and sang and danced like crazy, everyone was just so energetic it was so much fun.

How did you know your partner was “the one”?

We had been great friends for almost 3 years before we started dating, so once we did, I think a part of me always knew we would end up together.  There was never an “ah ha” moment, but we were always just so comfortable with each other and supportive of each other.  That’s what matters most I think.  We never give up on the relationship because there will always be ups and downs, but each time we get through something tough together we are just stronger and closer because of it.  And we laugh a lot together.  All the time.

Any advice you’d give new brides who are just getting started?

Try to enjoy the planning process as much as possible!  It gets really tough and stressful at times (there were days toward the end when I would just wake up and start crying!) but in the end, on the day of the wedding, none of it matters.  Everything will work out beautifully and all that matters is that you guys look at each other, take it all in, and enjoy yourselves.  Everyone told us that our energy the whole night was so great, and I think it’s true. We had such a great time dancing all night, and I think that’s really what made our guests have a great time too.

Real Wedding Re-Run: Xian and Sam’s Classic Wedding with Vintage Details by The Collection

I saw this wedding this morning, and knew I had to rerun it. A year later, it is still just as gorgeous..

The first thing that stands out about Xian and Sam’s wedding is their smiles; this is a couple who looks like they are having a good time (I mean, they give each other high-fives after exchanging rings – how can you not love that?).

And then you notice the colors (captured beautifully by The Collection), which give the day a fresh modern feel – the bright red of the bouquets against the bridesmaids’ teal dresses and the browns paired with the teal again of the table settings. And then there are the little details – the fact the wedding was held at an observatory, the ring bearers’ suitcases, the individually crafted terrariums on each table, the groomsmen’s large, gold belt buckles…Oh, and their cake table where they have little replicas of themselves on their cake!

The result? A classic yet totally modern wedding that is filled with fun and love, don’t you agree?
