Ooo, I’m so very happy to see you all this Monday morning because we have such a nice treat for you to kick off the week! One of our favorite invitation designers, Paper + Cup (who happens to have done up a very cool line of wedding websites for us) has released what I can only describe as the ultimate paper craft book.
Full of DIY ideas that you can create from paper (hence the name Paper + Craft), there are plenty that would work for your wedding or shower décor. Featuring several different types of flowers (including the giant one the model is wearing below – yes, that’s made from paper!), pinwheel name cards, mini goodie bags (which would make great favors stuffed with treats), there’s even a paper pocket square tutorial.
And, they’re easy! I tried out the flag banner this weekend for a party I’m hosting and the directions were simple to follow – always a bonus when it’s just you, some paper, scissors and a glue gun – and came out looking like the photo in the book. Whew!
Now, we don’t want to keep all of this paper goodness to ourselves so we’re giving away two copies of the book! All you have to do is tell us in the comments below – What is the wedding décor element you are most excited about at your wedding? (And, no, it doesn’t have to be made from paper, although that makes it even more fun!) We’ll pick two lucky winners later this week so get commenting!

How cool would a wall of these paper cones be as a backdrop for your vows or as a photo wall?
And, is this not the cutest favor table you’ve ever seen? Guests running around with mustaches is never a bad thing…
These wrapped candle holders would make a stunning centerpiece, especially if you had a book-themed wedding.
Big congrats, Minhee and Truman!

I think I’m most excited about making the Feathered centerpieces for our wedding!
I’m looking forward to buying my own flowers at the local farmer’s market and arranging them myself.
I’m most excited about the vintage postcards for our tables!
I’m really looking forward to the signs! I’m taking a letterpress class starting next week, so I’m hoping to rent studio space after I start and I’m going to make little signs for the tables with math jokes and other comments. I’m an ecologist and my fiance is a computer scientist, so it’ll probably involve pi and tau.
I’m most excited about the lighting at my reception. Our theme is picnic is the woods, so we’re having loads of little twinle lights on the ceiling to make it look like stars!
I’m super excited about the hurricane lanterns we’re using as centerpieces for our beach wedding! Just hoping they don’t lure in an actual hurricane:) I’m also excited about the chips, salsa, margarita and sangria bar!!
I’m making giant kusudama flower poms out of the pages of an old book for the ceremony decor… I might use the flowers elsewhere as well!
I am really excited about my ceremony decorations. I’m going to cut out bird silhouettes, tie them to clear fishing line, and hang them from the roof of the gazebo. I think this will really help tie everything in and go with my whole elegant outdoors theme (focusing on mostly birds and branches). I’m also going to be draping fabric, and hanging tissue paper pomanders in my wedding colors from shepherd’s hook along the aisle. I’m definitely a big fan of DIY projects!
Edibles instead of flowers! I love flowers, but we’re getting married at an arboretum in Hawaii, which will have no shortage of foliage and flowers.
So, the wedding décor element that I am most excited about is creating my own vegetable bouquet (think: different kinds of kale, colorful chard, herbs, etc.) and fruit and vegetable centerpieces that guests (many of whom are flying in from out-of-town) can take home with them and eat after the event (pineapples, mangos, papayas, mangosteens and whatever is in season and plentiful at local farms!). The rest will be donated to organizations that feed the homeless.
It is a part of our wedding that truly reflects our values since a year ago, I started a program that collects produce from farmer’s markets so that homeless people can have more healthy local food in their diets. The website attached is an article with a photo about my food donation program!
Right now, I’m most excited about making large, moss covered letters (a J for me, an M for him) to hang with sating ribbons from the door into our reception venue.
I have the DIY bug and I can’t wait to do more projects!
I’m super excited (and keeping my fingers crossed) that the California poppies and Texas bluebonnets I’ve planted in painted tin cans will bloom and look lovely with my Mexican fiesta paper flowers & garlands! If the potted flowers don’t work, I’ll be using more Mexican paper flowers.
I love arts and crafts using paper! I love pinwheels and that headpiece worn by the model is ah-mazing! You can never tell it’s made of paper! It looks like pieces of very nice cloth put together.
we’re making flags that say Yay for our guests to wave after we are announced husband and wife.
We just got a whole set of mis-matched cut-glass bud vases from second hand stores this weekend…and I can’t wait to fill them with paper flowers!
Using my Great Grandma’s linens she brought over from “the old country” back in 1904. Over the moon excited!
Im stuck on colour and the theme for our wedding, I don’t have any decor’ pieces at all that I can even be over thrilled about, this book will be my weddingsaver, I need ideas
For our country antique wedding, my roses were dried by me over the last 20 years! Ive always saved the ones I’ve received, from parents, grandparents now passed, instructors, my fiance
.. and never knew what for really…. until now!! <3
I am most excited about our guestbook table! The guestbook itself is a photo scrapbook of all our engagement pictures, with space for the guests to write their names or a little note. I figured in order for me to actually look at the guestbook more than once in the future, why not make it a scrapbook of our engagements?
On the table will also be 3 picture displays that we made: 1 of his pictures, 1 of my pictures, and 1 of the both of us. We also printed an engagement picture out on canvas for display at the guestbook table (and so we can hang it over our fireplace after the wedding is done!). Can you tell we love pictures?
we’re going to have monogrammed vases for the reception tables and they will hold the bridesmaids bouquets(repurposing to save on my floral budget) and we have the vases with our monogram to use after the wedding!
the element i’m most excited about for our wedding is the life size (4.5ft tall) popcorn containers that will hold balloons and frame in the guests seating!
I am most excited about the heart streamers that will be strung from the ceremony arch.
I am most excited about the things I’m making- which do also happen to be paper.
I am making a paper garland curtain ( like bead curtains) that will go in an arch way in our venue that leads to the patio. Most of the strands will be white, heart-shaped or round paper doilies. the center strands will be different shades and patterns of blue paper leaf/feather shapes. Then they’ll be split down the middle and pulled back at both sides- like a big curtain. The other thing I’m really excited about are the light up crepe paper roses I’m making for centerpieces. They’ll have to be big enough to hide the LEDs in their centers, but small enough to fit into brandy snifters. I haven’t decided to give them paper leaves of feather ones…………
: )
Pretty paper cups hung with ribbon and filled with rose petals are sweet looking and the petals can be thrown by guests as the newly married couple come back down the aisle.
I think the most exciting element at my wedding is going to be…..The Crystal tree centerpieces I am making, or the self-made pearl napkin rings, or the self-printed thank you scrolls. There are so many things that I have made for my wedding- I even wrote the script for the wedding. This will be a true DIY wedding.
I was most excited by the programs, which were rolled up into little scrolls and tied with organza ribbon.
I am making almost everything at my wedding! I am excited for all of it… but I think I’m most excited about making the centerpeices. I don’t think they will involve paper….but a lot of the other stuff will…like invitations and programs. My favors will also be made with paper, ribbon and little flowers. I can’t wait to get started and since I love scrapbooking and crafting with paper, I think this book would be PERFECT for me!
PS. I LOVE THE FLAG BANNER!! <3
Most excited for how I’m going to decorate the food serving table and lights around my venue.
i’m excited for everything! we’re ditching the standard floral centerpiece and using lanterns with candles and we’ll have a sweet, homey, cake/cupcake table. it all looks great in my head but we’ll see how it actually turns out
I’m excited for everything, but I think I’m most excited about the escort card display! I found a really amazing DIY idea to turn a poster into escort cards and it’s a LOT of work, but will save me a ton of money and look absolutely fabulous.
I am thrilled with the pinwheels!! I love how you can make them look vintage-y or playful depending on the paper! Plus it adds that element of youth with a carefree nature. It’s also an interactive TOY to have as a keepsake and remind your guests to let loose every once in a while and remember to laugh and smile more!
one small detail that means a lot to me is that we’ll have photos of our parents on their wedding day framed and sitting on our guestbook table. i think it’ll be a sweet way to acknowledge our amazing parents. and it’s always fun to show a picture of your super serious dad rocking a powder blue tux and a ruffled shirt.
really cute ideas, thanks for sharing!!!
thanks,it’s a very good article!
