When Sassy from Assassynation Photography contacted me about a punk princess shoot she had put together in the English countryside with Brides Up North, I knew I had to see it. And, dear readers, it is something to behold! The perfect antidote to all the prettiness of the Royal Wedding over the past few weeks, it has the edge and rock ‘n roll style British brides are so well-known for.
The gals headed to Darby Castle (where one of Henry the Eighth’s wives, Catherine Parr, resided) with an armload of gorgeous wedding dresses, a specially-commissioned Swarovski Union Jack tiara, and accessories to “rough up” the look a bit. Julia, the blogger behind Brides Up North, describes her transformation into an edgy bride as channeling Sandra Dee, post-makeover (and who doesn’t love a little “You’re the One That I Want”?). The effect is one of total coolness – and is making me think I might just be able to get away with wearing my wedding dress again if I can find the perfect tee, aviators and event to wear it to… Too weird?
