Happy Earth Day! Because there’s nothing we like more than an excuse to party it on up, we have some extra special treats for you today.
First off, the Green Bride Guide has new free wedding website templates, created by Minted, that are hot off the presses. Released just this morning (in time for our Earth Day extravaganza) they are not only absolutely adorable, but each one features matching wedding invites that can be upgraded to recycled paper. Woo hoo!
How pretty is this one?

In celebration of their new partnership, Minted is offering one lucky reader the chance to win either 100 invitation suites or 100 place card and program sets. And, honey, are their wedding invitations cool or what?

Honestly, I don’t know how the winner is going to decide – there are just too many good choices!
Now, entering to win is easy…

mY WEDDING IS 9-10-11, fOR THE NEXT YEAR, ME AND MY SOON TO BE HUSBAND, CAN TAKE LONG ROMANTIC WALKS ALONG lAKE eRIE AND CLEAN UP THE GARBAGE AND PLASTIC ATLEAST ONCE A WEEK!!!
My wedding is 6-21-2012 for the next year we could car pool with friends or family instead of driving our cars to work…and when we would normally drive we can ride our bikes or walk
My husband to be and I have made the decision to no longer buy bottled water, diet coke in a can, or anything that is in individually packaged bottles as far as beverages. Since we live in Washington State and these items are not recyclable in our State yet we accumulate a ton of TRASH and you and I both know this is not good for the Earth <3. So this is week 2 of us helping Mother Earth out one plastic bottle and can at a time.
Cheers!
Our wedding is 9-8-12. For the next year, my soon-to-be hubby and I will be trying to do as much shopping for our wedding as possible at second hand stores. By purchasing used cake stands, silver wear, and antique lace pieces, it will not only help us help the earth, but it will help us spend time together while planning our special day!
Our wedding is 12-24-11 in NEW ZEALAND! We can’t wait to travel overseas!
A few quick tips would be from our house: Bike to work when possible. Turn off water and lights when not in use, and RECYCLE! It’s easy!
My wedding is in June of 2012 and for the next year my fiancé and I are going to help a friend plant a tree in her backyard and always keep on recycling together as much as possible! We would both love to visit Australia one day!
EAT LOCAL!
Our wedding is 5-19-12. We hope to shop more at farmer’s markets and have our wedding catered by a place that supports local farms. We are also hoping to use a florist that uses local, in-season flowers (and save a ton of money doing it to boot!).
Definitely using our wedding website as much as possible for RSVP’s, music requests, etc. As well as sending alot of our invites out as e-vites. Most of our guests would rather get an email than a paper invite anyways. wedding is 3-9-12
We recycle weekly and help community clean ups in our neighborhood!
We’ve been making our own coffee and using our travel mugs rather than buying and throwing away cups everyday. We’re also much more conscious of our water and electricty usage… Happy Earth Day everyone!
Our wedding is 2-18-2012 and for the next year we can take the train to work, instead of driving the 37 miles each way!
We’re lucky enough to live in a place where buying local and eating local food is possible. It’s not always the easiest option, so we are making a conscious effort to change our habits so we frequent the stores and businesses that use products from the immediate area.
We would love to go visit Greece!
For our wedding which is being held at the local farmer’s market, we plan to source as much from the local vendors who are normally at the regular farmer’s market as possible, including jars of honey for favors. In addition, we continue to use public transportation as much as possible!
Mty fiance and I walk to work every day and recycle everything we can. We also eat organic and natural foods when possible.
We are going to start composting! We eat a bunch of fresh veggies so we have a lot to compost!
We really want to go to thailand. It looks physically beautiful and would love to get to see and learn more about their culture.
I have been dreaming of these: http://www.minted.com/customizer/sku/MIN-FIR-INV
We’re consciously making earth-friendly choices like found mason jars, local flowers, and limiting the one-use items throughout our wedding.
We would love to visit Greece someday. It is such a beautiful place with a wonderful culture.
To make our home environment more earth friendly, we’ve built a large compost area in our backyard and are making better efforts to recycle.
To help the enviroment, my children and i walk to places like kinder day care and shops, and we try to use as little power as possible with heating and cooling by using blankets rather then heaters and dressing lightly rather then using the air con, our plans for the near future is to change my son into cloth nappies and to get solar power electricity for our home (we wanted it start of this year but man it isn’t cheap)
we’re planning to have locally-made treats and fair-trade chocolates in our wedding welcome bags
Wow these are GREAT!
My fiancee and I have started eating almost all organic and/or locally grown meat and vegetables in the past month – and are LOVING it. We’re also making a larger effort to recycle, and for our wedding, we’re doing our best to limit single-use items, sharing with other couples we know who are getting married in the next year, and looking for more ideas to be eco-friendly!
My fiance & I stopped buying bottled water, brush our teeth without running the water & next year we plan on purchasing a hybrid car.
My fiance and I are working actively to stop using so MUCH. Such as switching to e-statements so we don’t receive so much paper, eliminating plastic bags from our lives by using reusable ones, switching to cloth napkins instead of using paper towels or paper napkins. There are so many ways to use less stuff. And it’s amazing how little we really need these “time savers”.
My fiance and I can start riding our bikes everywhere instead of driving our cars.
Argentina. We’ll get there eventually.
We’re going to cruise with our family for our wedding and are excited to be with our families and friends in Mexico! In a way, having the wedding in January will help cut energy uses at his relative’s houses in Pennsylvania (why keep it warm when you’re in the Caribbean?). We live in Jacksonville, FL, so replacing the insulation in our house would be a great way to cut our energy usage! We’ve already started carpooling to work every day
Our wedding date is 9-4-2011 and I recycle anything possible. My fiance also recycles, only he has to bring everything over to my house, because his apartment complex doesn’t offer recycle pick-up. It’s crazy how much trash we can all save! We also love to plant trees outside because we just love working outside! At some point in our lives, we will go to Tahiti!
My fiance and I just bought bikes (used ones – recycle!) so that we can ride to our local farmers market for grocery shopping instead of driving. We have also started using solid and biodegradable shampoos, lotions, soaps, and bath products to reduce the amount of preservatives entering the water. We are using our website for RSVP’s when it comes time, and we are taking our honeymoon in the same place we are getting married (beautiful Mackinac Island) so that we are not adding to the carbon emissions problem. And the kicker… my fiance installed a wind turbine at our property in Michigan last year, generating our own power all summer and storing it for when we need it in winter!!
Our wedding is May 26, 2012 and we are looking into all the options available to reduce our impact as much as possible! We also eat locally, and are supporters of our local farms for produce.
Our wedding date is 8/17/2012. I actually planted a garden yesterday! This summer I plan on walking to the grocery store instead of driving.
Our wedding date is 9-10-11 and I am starting to look for invites now!We are going to shop at the Farmer’s Market more, use the recycle bags at the grocery instead of plastic….and I was just thinking how cool it would be if your invitation could be plantable….burry and water the invite for a beautiful tree or plant…
Our wedding date is 8-27-11. We plan to compost as newlyweds! And we found the cutest composting-bucket at Crate & Barrel…definitely added that one to our registry.
We love the outdoors and plan to have both the wedding and the reception outside. Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!
We are using recycled bottles for our centerpieces at our wedding. We bike everywhere because we live in a city. We only do laundry when our clothes are absolutely dirty. We compost most of our old food and compostable packaging.
We would most like to visit Africa, anywhere in Africa.
The one place we are dying to visit in the world is Hawaii! I’ve been there before, I want my Fiance to see the beauty of the islands!
We recently bought a reusable K-cup for our Keurig since I’ve been feeling so guilty for the waste they create!
My fiancé and I are getting married on August 6th, 2011 – and on August 8th, we will be jet-setting to Hawaii! It will be our first time to visit, and I can’t tell you how over-the-top excited we are….we cannot wait!
We are recycling wine corks in our wedding – over 3,000 to be exact! From the centerpieces, to the escort cards, to custom & hand-made cork coasters, to the table number stands – everything is related to corks and the beauty of fine wine! It will be lovely!
I am entering for my sister’s wedding (7-14-2012)! They are being very eco-friendly in their wedding planning including choosing a green certified venue and cutting out real flowers. They are setting a good example for me and my husband to start being more sustainable.
I’m getting married 6-9-12 to the most amazing man ever. He loves the outdoors and plans on taking me on a week-long backpacking trip (but not for our honeymoon).
We already recycle and have eliminated as many “throw-away” products as we can. I teach my children about recycling and helping the planet as much as we can so it will be great for them and their children too!
My daughter is getting married next summer and I would love to win her this contest! We’re happy to help out with the wedding costs but if we didn’t have to, we would probably put the money towards traveling to Australia!
We are starting our own kitchen garden this year, that very local food!
My wedding is February 18th, 2012. And as a couple my soon to be hubbie and myself have always dreamed of going to Sydney Australia. Hopefully we can make our dreams come true this coming February!
Chris and I are headed to Belgium to live for a year after our wedding and we’re planning on buying bikes while there so as to save the environment from the exhaust that a (most likely) unnecessary car would have sent out. Can’t wait to get there!
I get married on July 2, 2011…but for over the past year and beyond I will continue to live green by composting, recycling, making less waste, using less electricity, and by continuing our plan for an eco-friendly wedding. We live this way everyday and I won’t stop living a green life because it’s the right thing to do.
My partner and I can refurbish a hammock stand and hammock, and spend more time laying in it in the backyard reading to each other instead of in the house with using electricity.
We are turning off the water when we brush our teeth and my fiance is carpooling with a friend everyday to school. One thing that we are going to strive for is to buy local produce and one day have our own garden.
We are recycling and picking up trash in our neighborhood (it’s very windy here and trash blows everywhere from people’s trash cans)
The one place on Earth that my fiance and I want to visit is Africa. We really want to explore, experience a safari and interact with different cultures. We know we’d have the time of our lives and would never forget the experience.
Our wedding is 11/12/11 and place cards & program sets from Minted would be AMAZING! Great designs.

We have always wanted to go to LONDON! We are hoping to visit there after we are married
My fiancee and I will no longer be shopping anywhere without our reusable shopping bags. That includes things like groceries and even clothing stores. I don’t need some frilly bag to show off to others where I bought something.
Already liked on FB.
My fiance and I always bring our own eco-friendly bags to the grocery store. We support the local farmers in Wisconsin, and go to the farmers market to get our produce.
My fiancee and I both keep reusable shopping bags in our cars at all times, and always use them for our groceries, as well as other shopping trips. We also recently moved to New York (from Kansas) and were shocked at how much trash there is here! I find myself constantly picking trash up from around our apartment complex, only to walk outside again the next morning and have it accumulated again. We hope that our dedication to “easy, earth-friendly actions” such as using the shopping bags, recycling, and picking up trash will inspire others to act in similar ways in respect for, and for the preservation of, our communities.
We live in NYC area so it is that easy being green. If only Kermit could see! We ride our bike and walk everywhere, always focus on using the resources at the local farmers markets for organic and locally grown foods. Once married we plan on shortening our shower times to help save water and by utilizing candles when possible, which not only add light, but also make life a little more romantic
Too much processed and canned and boxed foods, yuck! My fiance and I are both guilty of eating on the run. We’ve opted to cook at least 2 meals together a week made with local produce that we’ll subscribe to with a CSA so we can support our community farmers. This way we can have leftovers for lunches during the week, eat healthier and greener, and leave a smaller carbon footprint behind!
My fiance and I are working on growing our own garden this year, and using parts of our garbage to create homemade compost — very excited to be taking a small first step to helping ur world stay beautiful/clean!
