DIY Mother of the Bride and Groom Gift Idea from Chelsea at Frolic!

Surprise your mother and soon-to-be mother-in-law with hand-embroidered hankies right before the ceremony or when you tell them about your engagement! It’s a lovely gesture and something they can hang on to forever. Even if you’ve never sewn before, you’ll be able to make these!

Supplies:

Embroidery Floss (we used two strands)
Needle
Embroidery hoop

Steps:
1. Press the hankies with an iron.
2. Choose the color of thread you want to use. A brighter color from the pattern looks best.

Tips:

For the stem stitch: Be sure to always keep the thread on the top half of the stitch in between stitches. Keep the needle flat underneath the fabric. Don’t pull the fabric too tight or it will pucker.

For letters like T’s and F’s: Tie it off on the bottom and then sew the crossed line. This will keep the back neater. Practice a few first on a scratch piece of fabric! Once you’ve done a few, it’s pretty easy!close-up-vintage-hankerchief-embrodieredhankerchief-vintage-tulips-embrodiered-diy
