In 4 months Rhonda and Amon put together an amazing cabaret inspired wedding in Atlanta, GA. 100 guests, a unique venue, designer-style wedding gown, open bar and caviar hors d'oeuvres, all for less than $11,000! [jaw-drops] What?
Rhonda’s “Moulin Rouge” theme was perfectly incorporated throughout her wedding. Starting off with invitations her best friend created, not only saved Rhonda a few hundred bucks, but they were so personalized that it was the best way to introduce her guests to the theme. Rhonda designed her own, sexy, white, ostrich feathered wedding gown. The bridesmaid’s gowns were hand-made out of solid color fabric each girl chose for herself. Feather boas, fishnet stockings, chokers and boots finished off the bridesmaids attire. Rhonda knew it would be a fun and budget friendly way to spotlight her girls’ personalities through their choice of accessories!
A last minute venue change, though stressful I’m sure, was absolutely meant to be. A warehouse of antiques, collectibles and oddities called, At Paris on Ponce, had a private banquet room called, “Le Moulin Rouge.” Rhonda and Amon looked no further! Their ceremony and reception were both held there. She entered the ceremony with the song, “Come What May,” from the movie, “Moulin Rouge.” Rhonda and Amon's first dance was also a song from the same soundtrack.
Obviously the venue didn’t need decoration as it was always decked out like the movie itself, which saved Rhonda some money. The reception began with caviar, shrimp and beef hors d'oeuvres; an affordable option since Rhonda used a caterer friend. Alongside the buffet, with a carving station of beef tenderloin was a full open bar. Rhonda opted out of spending money on party favors her guests “could care less for”. Instead, she invested in creating an unforgettable reception where her loved ones were entertained by a strolling magician with a rabbit, a caricature artist, a henna tattoo artist, and a fortune teller. She also decided she wasn’t going to spend a big chunk of change on a cake, but a dear friend offered to make one for her. Rhonda accepted, thinking it was going to be a standard three layers of Betty Crocker and icing, which she would have been grateful for. Boy was she blown away. Her friend created a topsey – turvey 3 layer cake embracing the Moulin rouge theme, complete with the top layer shaped to a corset. It was beyond Rhonda’s wildest dreams! Everyone danced the night away to the great tunes the DJ played.
Rhonda is complemented regularly for her fantastic and creative wedding planning. And she proudly shares that it was all under $11,000. [jaw-drop…again]
