Winter, Spring....and Fall?

A question has come up recently that really made me think and rethink again. "Why do most people get married in the summer?" There are many amazing benefits of a summer wedding, however, planning your wedding during the "wedding season" can sometimes feel like trying to win a decathlon...blind-folded. If you’d like to easily relieve some stress and you have a tight wedding budget, consider the off season for your big day!

Avoiding some of the pains that come with the wedding season is always welcome. After all, you can only negotiating with every single vendor so much before you feel like you’re wearing thin. The end result can lose some of its "grandness" and who wants a watered-down wedding? Couples put more pressure on themselves (and their wallets) by getting married in the summer. The wedding season officially begins the Saturday of Memorial Weekend until September. Here are a few benefits of considering a different season of the year:

  • Being the wedding off-season, a winter/fall wedding can be a tight-budget lifesaver. Everything from rentals to ceremony sites to hotels can be as little as half the price they would be during the summer.

  • Depending on your geographical location, the winter season offers a stunning setting that any summer bride would kill for. The more natural beauty, the less decorations are needed. That can never be a bad thing!

  • Although your floral choices can become limited during the winter months, you can get away with using floral décor that would otherwise be taboo if it wasn’t the season: Holly, fall leaves, poinsettias, pussy willows, not to mention fall and winter colors.

  • As long as you’re not planning around a major holiday, you will most likely not be competing with any other weddings or events for your guests’ RSVPs.
  • One word: Vacancy! In the off season, your favorite venues have more of a chance of being vacant for your special date.

  • Literally nothing says "new beginning" like the spring. Begin your marriage together with the blessing of spring and all the blooming beauty it has to offer.
  • So why not have your wedding extravaganza in the fall (amazing colors), winter (wonderland anyone) or spring (like summer but less expensive and more moderate weather). Save yourself a headache! You deserve it.
