Etiquette Expert on When to Host a Bridal Shower

Photography by April Greer

Question:
When is the proper time to host a bridal shower?

Etiquette Expert, Claudia Lutman's Answer:
Pre-wedding celebrations are meant to enhance the engagement period, honor the couple, and simply to create an opportunity to spend quality time among your closest family and friends.

Appropriate planning is an imperative part of proper etiquette, and therefore, timing, with regards to these celebrations, is an integral part of the wedding planning process. It is not only necessary to have consideration of the bride and groom, but it is necessary to consider the couples families and closest friends when deciding when to plan each pre-wedding soiree.

The optimal time to host a bridal shower would range in between eight to four weeks prior the big day.
