September is always such a nostalgic time of year for me. Even though I have been out of school for quite some time, I find myself wandering aimlessly through the school supplies section, picking out new boxes of crayons and No. 2 pencils. So, as autumn approaches and I start digging through my cobbler recipes and brewing apple cider, here are a few things I have recently seen that have inspired me.

  1. My favorite game from Beau-coup is the bridal shower bingo because it playfully mocks the monotony that bridal showers can be. Inevitably, every conversation at a shower uses the exact same phrases. To get a bingo, you simply cross off these well-worn phrases (like "prince charming" or "the perfect match") as you overhear them. For those of us planning bridal showers, this is a simple game that succumbs to very little cheesiness and no public humiliation.
  2. As you can imagine, I look at more bakery sites in a day than the average girl should. I never stop salivating, but after awhile many start to look the same. However, last week I found Sincredible Pastries! This website is everything a bakery site should be - beautiful design, incredible images in extensive galleries, and very well-organized. I fear for my diet when they start their online ordering (coming soon)!
  3. Brides often mention to me their frustration in planning their wedding and reception at a destination venue that holds more than one wedding a weekend. While I can understand why a venue would do this, I also think that if you need to be more relaxed and would like more personalized attention for your event, you should choose a venue that doesn’t have continuous events. One such example is the Bear Flag Farm. I love this place! Gorgeous venue and it appreciates the diva within every bride! What more could you ask for?
  4. I admit that every time I buy shoes I have seen Foot Petals. I have scoffed, not believing that they could actually make a difference in the comfort of my peep-toes. Well, I have been converted! After a recent purchase of a particularly fetching, but highly uncomfortable pair of heels, I broke down and tried Foot Petals. Yowza! I cannot say enough kind things about them. Just try them. Now.
  5. The photo booth trend is in full swing, and why not? Your photographer is often focused on pictures of you (as they should be) and the reception. Photo booths provide you with fun, and often, irreverent images and keep your guests highly entertained (who knew Aunt Bertha liked cowboy hats so much?). One photo booth company that really stands out is Boothomatic. Visit their site and take a look at their bamboo booth. It isn’t obtrusive and provides you with all of the photos via web gallery.
  6. The days of getting married straight out of college have passed, and with them so have the traditional wedding registries. The fact is that most people getting married already have a coffee maker and a blender. So, what do you register for if you already have everything? Chances are you are looking forward to your honeymoon, but after all of your wedding planning, the budget has decreased. Register with Traveler’s Joy and your guests can donate to your honeymoon fund by purchasing gifts for you to use on your trip such as subway passes, airfare, or tickets to a concert. Check out the sample member registries to see just how much your personality as a couple can be showcased.
